Paul Richard “Rick” Derenberger, 59, of Davisville, W.Va., died Feb. 15, 2014, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
He was born June 12, 1954, in Parkersburg, a son of the late Walter and Clara Maxson Derenberger.
Rick retired from the West Virginia Department of Highways and was previously employed with Mountain State Steel. He was a member of 14th Avenue Gospel Mission and Masonic Blue Lodge 169. He was an avid sports watcher and was inducted into the Parkersburg South High School Hall of Fame, playing tackle on the football team. Later, he enjoyed coaching Little League baseball for many years.
He is survived by three children, Howard Neil (Brienna) Derenberger of Marietta, Nicole (Dan) Haugh of Parkersburg and Joshua (fiance, Emily) Derenberger of Parkersburg; two sisters, Eileen Kay (Steve) Null of Belpre and Francis Diana (John “CJ”) Craven of Mineral Wells; grandchildren, Kyle, Jayden and Izabel Derenberger and Aurora, Trinity and Izek Taylor; one aunt, Betty Parsons of Parkersburg; one uncle, Larry Derenberger of Parkersburg; and several cousins.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Pastor Tim Burch officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
