Carroll L. Parrish

Carroll Lee “Butch” Parrish, 73, of Petroleum, W.Va., passed away Nov. 2, 2013, at his residence.

Butch was born March 31, 1940, in Jackson County, a son of the late Roscoe and Georgia Fae Anderson Parrish.

He had worked over 10 years at the Diamond Glass Plant, Vienna, W.Va., was retired from the Teamsters Union as a truck driver and attended Pine View Baptist Church in Wirt County. Butch loved hunting, fishing and being outdoors. He also enjoyed spending time with his family which included starting up a new business “Parrish Trucking” with his sons.

He is survived by two sons, Scott Parrish (Diane) of Coxsmills, W.Va. and Kevin Parrish (Danielle) of Vienna; one daughter, Shelly Modesitt; seven grandchildren, Tyler Parrish, Sandra Eagle, Michael Lee Horner, Andrew Parrish, Nathaniel Parrish, Riley Parrish and Cheyanne Morgan; one great-grandchild, Kahlen Grace Parrish; and one sister, Vera Wigal (Ronnie) of Washington, W.Va. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Sandra Dee Smith Parrish; one sister, Anna Belle Parrish; and two brothers, Raymond and Bill Parrish.

A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, with Pastor Paul Drake officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Saturday prior to the services.
