Richard F. Purin

Richard F. Purin, 73, of Washington, W.Va., died Oct. 7, 2013, at his residence.

He was born Nov. 14, 1939 in Ogden, Utah, a son of the late Fred and Ethel Farley Purin.

He retired as a chemical engineer working many years for several of the local chemical plants and also taught at the Parkersburg Community College.

He enjoyed learning, reading, was an avid golfer and bridge player but most of all, he loved his family.

He is survived by three children, John Purin of Ogden, Utah, Cathryn (Greg) Halvorsen of Sandy, Utah, James (Julie) Purin of Ogden, Utah; 10 grandchildren, Madison Purin, Zane, Carter, Grace and Jack Halvorsen, Thelan, Kaiden, Brooklen, Bryn and Candace Purin; one sister, Inez Kraft of Sparks, Nev.; and his partner, Linda Campbell of Washington, W.Va.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Trevor Richard Halvorsen.

Services will be Saturday 1 p.m. at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg.

Burial will be in Ogden, Utah beside his parents in the family cemetery. Visitation will be today, 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
