Joe D. Brand

Joe Douglas Brand, 62, of Kenna, W.Va., passed away Sept. 29, 2013, at the Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston.

He was born Feb. 4, 1951 in Rockport, a son of the late Clement L. and Annabell Pierce Brand.

Joe was a former employee of Walker Parkersburg and Gatewood Products. He was a member of the DAV Chapter #6, the VFW Post 1212 of Parkersburg, and a former member of the DAV Chapter 6. He enjoyed hunting.

Surviving is his longtime companion, Linda Hartshorn and her daughter, Kim Anderson and her three children, Aerieal Wedekamm, Khali Naylor-Anderson and Lillith Naylor-Anderson; one brother, Cleston “Bing” (Darlene) Brand of Washington, W.Va.; one sister, Oleta “Peach” (Greg) Lyons of Grayson, Ga.; a brother-in-law, Ronald “Gene” Amos of Parkersburg; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Patricia Lott and Helen Amos.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 5th Street, Parkersburg, with Pastor John Barker officiating, and burial will follow at the Pond Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The visitation will also be on Thursday from 11 a.m. until time of the service.
