Roger D. Johnson
Roger D. Johnson, 69, of Waverly, beloved father, brother, grandfather, friend, and gentle soul, passed away Sept. 18, 2013.
He was well-known for helping friends, neighbors, and his children with his mechanical ability, and he took great delight in the company of his brothers and sisters, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an avid researcher of family history and a lover of books, particularly science fiction. His love and generosity will forever be remembered.
He was born in 1943 to the late Lloyd and Carmen Johnson. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his sister Patsy Irene Brown and his niece Kimberly Pratt.
He is survived by two children: Melissa L. Tanner of Little Birch, W.Va., and Jason R. Johnson of Easthampton, Mass., six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren; his sister Rose Marie Kendricks of Roanoke, Va.; four brothers: Fred Johnson of Lubeck, W.Va., David Johnson of Coolville, Ohio, Joe Johnson of Lowel, Ohio, and Michael A (Allen) Johnson of Parkersburg; five nephews, and four nieces.
His body was cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Remembrances may be sent to Leavitt Funeral Home for his family.
