Barbara Anne Moran Sheppard, 79, of Mineral Wells, W.Va., died Sept. 11, 2013, at the Eagle Pointe, Parkersburg, W.Va.
Sheppard retired with the status of Librarian Emerita from West Virginia University at Parkersburg where she was employed for over 23 years. Previous to that she had been a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Wheeling for 20 years, during which time she taught in various Catholic schools in Wheeling and Clarksburg, as well as serving for four years as a missionary in Guatemala. For many years she was a lector in her church, a Hospice Volunteer, and a member of the Mineral Wells Volunteer Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary.
She was born April 3, 1934 in Wheeling, the daughter of Peter A. Moran and Mary Arkle Moran. She is survived by her husband, Edwin L. Sheppard, and four sisters, Evelyn Dewey of Annandale, Va., Peggy Straughn of Pittsburgh, Martha Jo Jackson of St. Clairsville, Ohio, and Mary Virginia Moran of Canton, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Sister Laetitia Marie Moran, SSJ, Patricia Neumann and Phylis Killeen.
The funeral will be Friday 2 p.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with the Father John Rice as celebrant of the Mass of Christian Burial.
Entombment will be at Sunset Memory Gardens.
Friends may call at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg today from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with a wake service at 8 p.m.
