J.W. Millwood, 58, of Parkersburg, passed away July 31, 2013, at the Camden Clark Medical Center Memorial Campus.
He was born in Gaffney, S.C., the son of the late Lloyd Millwood and Betty Stewart Cain.
He had worked for 17 years at Choice Insulation and later worked for 15 years for the Union Local #80 EPI Insulators. He was an avid sports fan who loved the Clemson Tigers, The Atlanta Braves and Nascar following Bill Elliott, and also loved the outdoors with hunting, fishing and golfing. He was active in Parkersburg basketball leagues and bowling leagues at Emerson Lanes. He was very active in Parkersburg High School basketball for many years and was the neighborhood” handyman” who loved helping his friends with any project they needed done.
He is survived by his wife, Anna L. “Annie” Brigner Millwood of Parkersburg; his children, Jessica White (Scott) of Parkersburg, Danyell Cross (Joshua) of Washington, W.Va., and Jaylynn Millwood of Parkersburg; his grandchildren, Brandon Thomas, Jacobi White and Chase White; his siblings, Michelle Cain Addis (Bill), Wanda Cain Hightower (Harry), Rick Cain and Donna Cain McAbee (Dale), all of Greenville, S.C.; a very special uncle and aunt, Johnny and Martha Moon of Greenville, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, William Cain; and one brother, James William “Tink” Millwood.
Funeral services will be Saturday at noon at the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg, with Bob Carr officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m.
