Queen E. Crites

Queen Elizabeth Crites, 95, of Mineral Wells, passed away July 2, 2013.

She was born March 22, 1918 in Exchange, W.Va., and was the daughter of the late Ransom D. and Florinda Beckett. Queen was a very active member of her community. She was a 68 year member of the Big United Tygart Methodist Church; W.Va. 4H All Stars; WV Farm Bureau for 50 years; Wood County Republican Executive Committee; Saulsbury Homemakers Club; and the Wood County Fair Board.

In 1970 she received an outstanding West Virginia award from the governor. She formed the Saulsbury 4H Club and was the leader for 32 years.

Survivors include her four children, Bill (Janet) Crites of Parkersburg, Clayton (Diana) Crites of Davisville, Carol Post and Ronald A. Crites of Mineral Wells; eight grandchildren, Debbie (Mike) Conger of Parkersburg, Don (Tracey) Crites of Geneva, Ohio, David (Karen) Post , Cynthia (Mark) Steele, Darin (Crystal) Crites, Teresa (Sean) Law, Kerry (Brent) Conger of Mineral Wells, Joe (Stacey) Gribble of Vienna; 14 great-grandchildren, Cody and Logan Steele, Sean Conger, Courtney Post, Kaylynn and Lauren Crites, Christi, Brendon and Emily Crites, Ciara and Chase Conger, Conner and Chloe Gribble, and Eli Law; and one great-great-grandson, Colton Steele.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Vance H. Crites in 1986; two sisters, Pearl Hacker and Golda Schiefer; brother, Emery Belknap; and son-in-law, David Post in 2009.

The family would like to thank the staff at Eagle Pointe, Auguste’s Cottage for their loving care.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St., south Parkersburg with Rev. Rodney Blanchard officiating. Interment will follow at the Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
