George W. Trader
On July 17, 2013, George W. Trader, age 66, went to be with the Lord. George died at WVU Medical Center after battling ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).
George is survived by his loving wife Donnis of 47 years who stayed by his side through his battle. He has a son David W. Trader of Hurricane, wife Kim; a daughter Beverly Renner of St. Marys, husband Jimmy; a brother John William “Bill” Trader, wife Kathy; in-laws Chuck and Barbara Neuman of Wheeling and Jack and Pamela Wotring of Shepherdsville, Ky.; aunts Lucy Vandergrift of Fairmont, Mildred Walton of Hillsboro, Bill and Wilma Hyre of St. Marys, Kenneth Riley of Deep Creek, Md., Bob and Thelma Calvert of Albright. He has four grandchildren: Gavan Renner, wife Casey, Devin Lauer, husband Anthony, Jourdan and Jack Trader. He has five great grandchildren: Noah, Jacob, Anna, Rylee, Adelynn, four nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He loved all of his children dearly. George was born in Fairmont, W.Va., to George and Frances Trader who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Jack and Maxine Wotring of Kingwood, W.Va.
George retired from Allegany Power with 36 years of service. He was a life member of the NRA and the WV Muzzleloading Association, and a member of the National Muzzleloading Association. George attended St. John’s Catholic Church in St. Marys and St. Sebastian’s Catholic Church in Kingwood. He enjoyed camping, hunting and riding four wheelers with his family. George served his Country as a member of the 201st service artillery Army National Guard. While living in Kingwood he served as a member of the Kingwood Fire Department, President of the Kingwood Little League Association, Fireman Day Chairman of the Preston County Buckwheat Festival, and was an EMT with the Kamp ambulance service. George was involved in Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts in both Kingwood and St. Marys. Above all he was a Christian, loving husband, father and papaw that will be greatly missed.
Services will be held Saturday, July 20, at 10 a.m. at the Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys, W.Va., with Ed Covert, David Trader, and Paul Drake officiating. Interment will be in the Maplewood Cemetery, Kingwood, W.Va. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
