William Lowther

William Clyde Lowther, 77, of Parkersburg, W.Va, went to meet his Lord and joined the Heavenly Choir Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at his residence.

He was born in Huttonsville, W.Va. a son of the late Charles and Claudia (Jones) Lowther.

Clyde retired from the Department of Agriculture after 32 years as Produce Specialist. After retiring he worked for 23 years for Leavitt Funeral Home. He was a member of South Parkersburg Baptist Church where he sang in the sanctuary choir and was a Sunday School teacher. He was a member of the Gospel Music Reunion Choir and Gideons International. Clyde was a United States Army veteran having served from 1961-1962. He was also a member of the National Guard from 1954-1966 and then again from 1977-1996.

He is survived by two daughters Sheila Lowther and Karen S. Willey (Michael) all of Parkersburg; a son Kenneth Ray Lowther (Angie) of Columbus, Ohio; two sisters Willa Pfau (Bill) and Ruth Harrold (David) all of Elkins, W.Va.; five grandchildren Kimberly Starcher (Matthew), Dustin Willey, Noah Lowther, Hannah Lowther; and Benjamin Lowther; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Freda Mae (Arbogast) Lowther; two brothers C. Vernon and Glenn Lowther; and a granddaughter Amber Marie Willey.

Services will be Friday 11 a.m. at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Pastor Joe Busch officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery North with military honors by American Legion Post 15. Visitation will be today, 2-8 p.m., at the funeral home.
