Virginia R. Wade
Virginia Ruth Wade, 102, of LeRoy, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord June 4, 2013, in Ravenswood Village, following an extended illness.
She was born Jan. 30, 1911, in Grace, W.Va., a daughter of the late Lorenzo Gordon and Esta Mae (Ice) Knapp. Her husband, Coy Wade, Sr., son, Coy Wade, Jr., grandson, David Mark Wade, son-in-law, John Staats, half-brothers, Frank Christy and Roy Christy, sisters, Beulah Fankhouser and Jessie Westfall, and half-sister, Thelma Emmons also preceded her in death.
She was a homemaker and a dedicated 83-year member of the Liverpool United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and choir member for over 50 years. She was a long time columnist for the Ravenswood News and the Jackson Herald. Many subscribers enjoyed her most recent column, “Liverpool and LeRoy News.”
Survivors include son, David G. Wade (Jeanne) of Leroy; daughter, Betty Staats of Leroy; daughter-in-law, Drusilla Wade of Parkersburg; grandchildren, Melissa Burgess, Johnny Staats, Sherry Wade, Craig Wade and Jeff Wade; seven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren.
Service will be 2 p.m. Friday, June 7, at Liverpool United Methodist Church, LeRoy, W.Va., with the Pastor Johnny Price officiating. Burial will follow in the Liverpool Cemetery, LeRoy. Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. at the church. Casto Funeral Home, Ravenswood, is providing arrangements.
