Mavadelle Lieving

Mavadelle Shimer Lieving, 88, of Leachtown, W.Va., passed away on June 5, 2013, at Harmar Place, Marietta, Ohio.

She was born Aug. 8, 1924, in Freed, W.Va., a daughter of the late Harley and Lovisa Fox Shimer.

Mavadelle was a graduate of Wirt County High School with the class of 1942, a graduate of St. Joseph’s Nursing School and had worked as a Registered Nurse. She enjoyed bird watching, gardening and flowers.

She is survived by four daughters, Lois (Don) Burton of Parkersburg, Susan Lieving of Leachtown, Peggy (Patrick) Jones of Waterford, Ohio and Karen (Mike) Butcher of Baden, Pa.; two sisters, Madeline Prather, Belpre, Ohio and Barbara Butcher of Sandusky, Ohio; one brother, Donald Shimer of Sun City West, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Jessica Emrick, Eric Westbrook and Zachary Butcher; and two great-granddaughters, Sophia Emrick and Sarah Westbrook.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Harold Lieving; an infant daughter, Mary Alice Lieving; two brothers, Ronald Shimer and Herbert Shimer.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 8 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St., south Parkersburg with Pastor Kevin Lantz officiating. Interment will follow at Hartley Cemetery in Brohard, W.Va. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
