Georganne F. “Mom, Georgie and Grandma” Watson, 83, passed away peacefully into Heaven on May 7, 2013, at Camden Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus, after an extended illness.
She was born Sept. 2, 1929, in Waycross, Ga., a daughter of the late George and Laura Watson.
Mom was an avid reader and a Jeff Gordon and New York Yankees fan. She lived to watch her Yankees and the baseball season. Mom enjoyed playing games, cards with her network of grandkids and great-grandkids. She was happy-go-lucky, stubborn, funny and independent. Throughout the years, Mom enjoyed watching the goats, birds and wildlife through her picture window, her smile, laugh and bright eyes was heart-warming and truly gave you the feeling of what her purpose was on earth. She brought joy to everyone who ever knew her. She could always make you smile. Mom resided with her adoptive family in Burning Springs, Wirt County.
She is survived by her children, Steven and Mary Ann VanClief, with whom she resided since 2006. Mom also is survived by many grandchildren during her final years of life: Lorrie and April VanClief, William Polk, Jason VanClief, Danielle Duckworth, Lyssa Marks, Nysha (Ball) Little, Molly Jones, Ki, Mishell, and Meghan; great-granddaughters, Jaylynn, Shaye Ann Middleton and Adison Polk who she adored, spoiled and they were the sunshine of her life; and five additional foster great-grandchildren and many, many more children we’ve fostered and hosted foreign exchange students which have lived and passed through our home and lives.
Mary Ann, Steven VanClief and family would like to thank Dwain and Steve of Wirt County EMS, Julie Doughty, RN, and staff on 2-North and Tina Doughty, RN, and staff on 5-North for the heart warming care they gave Mom during her final days on earth. The VanClief Family would like to thank our many friends and family for their prayers and support. Mom will be sadly missed but now is at peace.
There will be no visitation per Mom’s wishes. Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2333 Pike St., Parkersburg, is assisting the family with arrangements.
