Frederick (Fritz) W. Goebel

Frederick (Fritz) W. Goebel, 79, of Reedsville, Ohio, passed away May 16, 2013, at Camden Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus, Parkersburg, W.Va.

He was born Sept. 14, 1933, in Columbus, Ohio, son of the late Frederick Baldwin and Mary Jane Peters Goebel.

He retired from Ohio Bell Telephone Company and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was also a past Commander of Pomeroy American Legion Post 39, past Commander of Tuppers Plains VFW Post 9053, a member of Gallipolis Elks Lodge and the Pioneer Antique Car Club in Parkersburg.

He is survived by his wife, Carleen Goebel; two daughters, Susan and Thomas Heller and Sarah and Joseph Wasik; two sons, Steven Goebel and Jeff and Fabrenna Hanna Goebel; two sisters, Martha Mead and Mary Rose; eight grandchildren; a stepson, Michael and Edella Pierce; and two step-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nadine Goebel.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Pomeroy, Ohio, with Father Tim Kozak officiating. Burial will be in Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Cemetery, where military gravesite services will be conducted. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. today at Ewing Funeral Home, Pomeroy, Ohio.
