Nina Maxine (Life) Boley
Nina Maxine (Life) Boley, 84, of Parkersburg, W.Va., died on April 20, 2013, at Camden Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus, following a brief illness, with her loving family at her side.
Nina was born Jan. 6, 1929, in Rockport, W.Va., a daughter of the late William D.C. and Verna Lulu (Boice) Life.
She was a proud graduate of Parkersburg High School with the class of 1947. She owned and operated her own dog grooming business for over 25 years and also worked for Winans Sanitary Supply. She also served as a loving housewife for her caring family. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary 2307 for 48-plus years, where she served as Past State Madam President, Past Madam President and numerous other offices and committees. She also served as Drill Team captain and was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Commander, American Legion Auxiliary Post 15, and a life member of the Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post 1212. She worked as a volunteer for several years with the Parkersburg Half Marathon, and she won the two-mile race in her age group in 2000. Nina was also very active on various charitable committees in the Parkersburg area in helping to raise money for many worthy causes.
Nina was married to the late Lawrence “Bud” Boley for 49 years. Nina and Bud were avid campers and RV’ers. She loved gardening, playing bingo and cards, working word puzzle books and playing Yahtzee. Nina was a strong and independent person until the end. We will miss her terribly.
Nina and Bud were the loving parents of four children, Shirley (Steve) Brown, Belpre, Ohio, Nancy Jones and Susan Nichols, both of Parkersburg, and Larry (Becky) Boley, Williamstown; brother, Lloyd Life, Marietta, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Steven (Maria) Brown, Batavia, Ohio, Malissa Leach, Belpre, Ohio, Robert Jones, Mason, Ohio, Heather (Jason) Marks, Parkersburg, Ashley Nichols, Fort Bragg, N.C., Courtney Boley, Parkersburg, and Autumn Boley, Williamstown, W.Va.; two step-grandchildren, Heather (Jeremy) Lott, Rockport, W.Va., and Daniel Dixon, Clarksburg, W.Va.; eight great-grandchildren, Adam, Jakob and Grace Brown, Batavia, Ohio, Kaitlyn and Davis Leach, Belpre, Ohio, Madison and Cyler Marks, Parkersburg, W.Va., and Brennen Owens, Parkersburg, W.Va.; and one step-great-grandchild, Vada Mae Lott, Rockport, W.Va.
In addition to her parents and her beloved husband, she was preceded in death by her nine siblings, Selma Lewis, Alva Life, Berniece Dasho, Roy Life, Ray Life, Irene Skinner, Dale “Babe” Life, Donald Life and Ronald Life.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Dan Boley officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens, Parkersburg. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
