Ronnie Jay Smith, 59, of Sandyville, W.Va., passed away March 23, 2013, at Camden Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus, Parkersburg, W.Va.
He was born Feb. 22, 1954, in Charleston, W.Va., a son of Norman E. and Flossie Gladys Wolfenbarger Smith. He retired as a Ravenswood Police Officer with 30 years service. He and his wife Debbie rode Goldwing motorcycles with Freedom Riders Goldwing Club. He also enjoyed riding four-wheelers. His loves were his family, especially his granddaughters, whom he affectionately called ‘mousey mousey’ and ‘monkey monkey’, and the Ravenswood Police Department.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie Sheaves Smith of Sandyville, W.Va.; daughters, Crystal Wilson and husband Brian of Sandyville and Amanda Smith of Ravenswood; granddaughters, Hannah Hinzman and Kassidy Wilson; sister, Barbara Hardesty of Sandyville; brothers, James A. Smith and wife Sharon of Sandyville; twin brother, Donnie R. Smith and wife Debbie of Sandyville; and Doyle Smith and wife Margaret of Sandyville; and 12 nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Leonard Smith.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood, with Rev. Brett Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Ravenswood Cemetery. Friends may visit the family 3-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
