Robert B. McCutcheon, 89, of Vienna, W.Va., died Jan. 30, 2013, at his daughter Donna’s home, where he has been cared for the past nine months after the passing of his wife.
He was born January 3, 1924 in Reedy, W.Va., to the late James Robert and Izora Mae (Smith) McCutcheon and has lived in the Parkersburg and Vienna area for over 65 years. He worked for Allegheny Power for over 38 years in the collection and meter reading department. He was a member of South Parkersburg Baptist Church for over 27 years, past president of the Bethel Heights Lions Club, member of the Good Sam’s Camping Club, delivered for Meals on Wheels, and volunteered his time at the Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. He enjoyed traveling with his family, gardening and spending time with family.
Survivors include his children Roberta (Bruce) Doughty of Hermon, Mass., Stephen (Connie) McCutcheon of Vienna, and Donna (Melvin) Huck of Tarentum, Pa., five grandchildren Bruce Patrick, Nancylaura, Robert Stephen, Stephanie Marie and Vincent Robert, 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Laura Fay (Grable) McCutcheon, grandchildren Emily Susanne and Nathan Paul Huck, siblings Rufus Eugene, William Andrew, Gordon Leroy, Neva Marzell Waite, Betty Powell, Mary Lee Carthell, Wanda Parsons and Edward Jack Canfield.
Service will be Monday, Feb. 4, 11 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg with his minister Rev. Joe Busch officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be Sunday, from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Monday.
