Avis Wamsley

Avis Grace Wamsley, 90, formerly of Pullman, Five Forks Community, passed away Feb. 3, 2013, at The Willows Nursing Facility in Parkersburg.

She was born May 1, 1922, in Ritchie County, a daughter of the late Brooks and Viola (Reed) Cox. Avis was a homemaker and Methodist by faith. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially around the kitchen and dinner table.

Surviving is her son, Hayward Wamsley (Rose) of Parkersburg; sister, Nellie Grimm of Stow, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carson Wamsley; brother, Darrel Cox; sister, Edith Lipscomb; and two infant daughters.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Raiguel Funeral Home, Harrisville. Interment will follow at the Pullman Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, and one hour prior to services.
