M. Gaynell Winland

M. Gaynell Winland, 89, of Daytona Beach, Fla., died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at Terrace of Dayton Nursing Home.

She was born in Parkersburg, W.Va., a daughter of the late Raleigh J. and Ermie G. (Curry) Williams. She was a member of Calvary Community Church. She retired from C & P Telephone as a telephone operator after 34 years, and was a lifetime member of the telephone Pioneers. She was a member of the White Shrine, Order of Eastern Star and the Clown Patrol. She was an active member in the Parkersburg Women’s Club.

She is survived by two nephews, Mike Thompson (Ruby) and John Thompson (Sherra); a niece, Linda Riggs; four great-nieces and nephews, Kimberly, Jonathan and Tyler Thompson, and Stacy Riggs; and special friends, Becky Nichols, Beth Clark, Greg and Edie Mendenhall and Larry and Jackie Fornari. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Winland; and two sisters, Margaret Isabelle Thompson and Elizabeth Pearl Williams.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Rev. Ken Fullerton officiating. Burial will be at Bethel Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday.
