Blanche Gallagher

Blanche Leonard Gallagher, of Miami, Fla., passed away on Jan., 8, 2013.

Mrs. Gallagher was born in Winchester, Ky., on Nov., 16, 1924, the third daughter and fifth child of Clare W. and Matthew J. Leonard.

She was a graduate of De Sales Heights Academy in Parkersburg, W. Va., and received a BS degree in Business Administration from West Virginia University in Morgantown where she was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority. After graduation she worked for DuPont in Parkersburg. She married R. Blaine Gallagher in 1951 and they had four children before moving to Miami, Fla., in 1972. She later worked for Burdines (now Macy’s) selling silver, crystal and china at the Dadeland Mall store in Miami until her retirement.

Mrs. Gallagher is survived by son Christopher M. Gallagher and daughter-in-law, Brenda H. of Waycross, Ga., son Timothy J. Gallagher and daughter-in-law Joy C. of Coral Gables, Fla.; granddaughters Melissa Koenig (Nick) of Rogers, Ark., Kristin Minguy of Ocala, Fla., and Michelle and Meagan Gallagher, both of Tampa; brother-in-law David R. Gallagher of Alexandria, Va., along with 17 nieces and nephews, 24 great nieces and nephews and two great, great nephews.

She was predeceased in death by her husband, R. Blaine Gallagher, daughter, Anne Gallagher Minguy, son, James P. Gallagher, sisters, Mary J. Burrus and Rose Clare Daugherty, brothers W. J. and James B. Leonard, three nephews, Frank and Robert Leonard and Ryan Graham.

Private burial services will be held at a later date at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Parkersburg.
