Athens Sheriff

ATHENS, Ohio — The Athens County Sheriff’s Office released the following reports Nov. 27:

* On Nov. 26, the Athens County Sheriff’s Office received a report of several vehicles being broken into on State Route 691. Money and other small items were taken from the vehicles. This matter is currently under investigation.

* On Nov. 26, the Athens County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a theft of a UTV from a jobsite on Route 50. The UTV was taken some time over the holiday weekend. This matter is currently under investigation.

* On Nov. 26, the Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to Eighth Street for a report of a possible scammer going door to door. Deputies responded to the area and found multiple subjects in the area. The operation was found to be a legitimate utility company that was notifying residents of discrepancies with their services. The credentials checked out and no further issues were discovered with their presence. Dispatch was alerted to advise any other potential callers.

* On Nov. 26, the Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to Oakdale Road for a private property crash report. The complainant stated that while her vehicle was parked at Trimble Middle School, her vehicle was struck causing damage. She reported the issue to her insurance company and a report was requested in order to get information on the other vehicle involved in the accident. That information was obtained and added to the report.
