ATHENS — Athens County Sheriff’s Office released the following reports on Nov. 20 and 21.

Nov. 19

* The Criminal Interdiction Unit conducted a traffic stop on US 33. Upon speaking with the driver, he gave false information regarding his name. Upon learning the identity of the driver, it was determined that he had 5 warrants for his arrest. Cody Oneil, 28, of Shade, was placed under arrest and transported to SEORJ.

* The Criminal Interdiction Unit conducted a traffic stop on Johnson Road. Upon speaking with the driver, it was determined that he had an active warrant for his arrest. Jeremy Cooksey, 32, of The Plains, was placed under arrest and transported to SEORJ without incident.

* The Criminal Interdiction Unit conducted a traffic stop on State Route 56 with a vehicle for multiple equipment violations. Deputies made contact with the driver and a passenger. During the investigation deputies determined probable cause for a search of the vehicle. The search yielded items of contraband on persons and inside the vehicle. These items were seized and are being sent to a lab for testing. Charges of aggravated possession of drugs are expected pending lab results, officials said.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to Edria Lane for a theft report. The caller advised that someone had entered their vehicle overnight and that the vehicle registration had been taken.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to Cross Street in reference to a report of bicycles lying near a wood line. Deputies located the bicycles in question and none had been reported stolen at that time. The bicycles were photographed and will be checked at a later time.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to an Amesville business in reference to a counterfeit bill. Deputies took a report and the case is under investigation.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to Bails Road on a report of harassment. The complainant had been harassed by an ex-husband; a report was completed as per the complainant’s request.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to a property on State Route 144. The complaint was of someone cutting down a tree on a lumber company’s leased property. A report was taken on the incident and is under investigation.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to Coal Road in reference to an active warrant in Athens County. Contact was made with Mitchell Haines, 43, who was arrested. He was then transported to the SEORJ without incident.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to Bell Road in reference to a theft report of lumber. Numerous rough-cut specialty boards were removed from the property sometime during October. This matter is under investigation.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to State Route 691 in reference to a stolen ATV. The ATV is a Yamaha Big Bear, green in color. The ATV is believed to also have been painted after the theft. Case is under investigation.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to Sixth Street for a report of harassment. The male advised that he was being contacted repeatedly by a female even after he asked her to stop. Contact was made with the female and both parties were advised to not contact the other; this matter is still under investigation.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office took a report by phone regarding harassment. The complainant stated that a caller recognized to be the subject of a protection order was harassing her posing as a telemarketer. The call was also witnessed by another party. This case is under further investigation.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office Responded to US 33 in reference to Athens County 911 receiving a report of a wrong way driver. The driver ultimately was involved in a crash with another motorist on US 33. Deputies assisted the Ohio State Highway Patrol who handled the incident.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to North Plains Road in reference to a customer attempting to pass off a counterfeit 100-dollar bill at Piggly Wiggly. The bill was rejected and the female left the store. This case is under investigation.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to North Plains Road at the Valero for a report of a patron trying to use a counterfeit 20-dollar bill to purchase items. Currently, it is unclear if there is any further information regarding a suspect due to a manager not being on scene at the time of response. This case is under further investigation.

Nov. 20

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to Canaanville Road in reference to two bicycles that were located by a resident.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to Hogue Hollow Road in reference to an RV parked close to or in the roadway. Deputies responded to the area and located the RV; it was parked on the road right of way. Deputies made contact with the owner who agreed that it should be moved and was preparing a spot on the nearby property to place it. The owner was given time to move the vehicle.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to North Plains Road at the Piggly Wiggly. A report of a shoplifter was taken; the case is under investigation.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office took a report of stolen checks that were cashed in the Athens area. Case is under investigation.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to South Plains Road on a report of theft of a package from a mailbox. A report was taken on the incident and is currently under investigation.
