ATHENS, Ohio — The Athens County Sheriff’s Office released the following reports Aug. 10:
* On Aug. 9, the Athens County Sheriff’s Office was requested at the intersection of Carr Road and Rt. 33 for a report of a 5-year-old juvenile standing a foot away from the highway alone. The caller, and employee for the Athens County Prosecutor’s Office, was able to walk the juvenile to safety and located the 13-year-old juvenile male who was supposed to be watching her. The parents of both juveniles were contacted, and one arrived on scene and took custody of the juveniles. Children’s Services was advised of the situation. Case closed.
* On Aug. 9, the Athens County Sheriff’s Office was called to Red Dog Road for a subject stating that several people had been killed at his residence. Deputies arrived to find no other persons around or at the residence. The caller, Tyler Kiser, 25, of Glouster, appeared to be under the influence of illegal drugs, and was hallucinating. During a search of the residence, for other people at the residence, deputies observed what appeared to be a small amount of methamphetamine in the kitchen. This was field tested to be positive for methamphetamine, and therefore Kiser was taken to Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail for disorderly conduct while intoxicated. No further action.
* On Aug. 9, the Athens County Sheriff’s Office was working at Athens County Fair when they were advised of a male trying to climb the rafters in the grandstands. Deputies made contact with the male in question. Deputies determined that the male was under the influence. Steven Peters, 28, of Athens, was arrested for disorderly conduct by intoxication and transported to the Southeast Ohio Regional Jail.
