Washington Sheriff

MARIETTA — On June 5 the following reports were released by Washington County Sheriff’s Department:

June 1

* Deputy Schwendeman began an investigation in reference to a federal grant program. The individual(s) portrayed themselves to be a “known friend or associate” of the victim(s). The incidents were in reference to federal grant availability, and the victim(s) being eligible, officials said. Subjects wanted victim(s) to pay approximately $3,000 in fees for approximately $60,000 in a grant package. This remains under investigation.

* Lt. Hunter prepared a private property crash report at 312 Muskingum Drive, Marietta. Betty J. Wells, 581 Point Lookout Road, Friendly, was backing her Buick Century when she struck Ryan Wagner’s Ford Mustang. Light damage was done to both vehicles.

* Lt. Hunter prepared a private property crash report at 124 Rauch Drive, Marietta. A 2012 Jeep Compass belonging to Colton Taylor coasted backward and struck a tree. Moderate damage was done to the vehicle.

* Deputy Zide responded to 989 Mitchells Lane, Marietta, to a report Roger Adams was acting out, destroying property, and posing a threat to others. Zide met with witnesses who restrained Adams. Adams was attempting to leave in a vehicle unfit for the road and was intoxicated. Roger Aaron Adams, 34, 989 Mitchells Lane, Marietta, was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct and transported to the Washington County Jail.

June 2

* Deputy McKee began an investigation where Rodney Beebe, Waterford, Ohio, reported a trespasser on the property.

June 3

* Deputy Zide observed a traffic violation and conducted a traffic stop on Ohio 7, Marietta. The driver was identified as Steven T. Ball. Ball had glassy bloodshot eyes and an odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected on his person. Ball stated he had six to eight beers. Steven Travis Ball, 29, 550 Null Road, Coolville, Ohio, was placed under arrest for OVI and was transported to the Washington County Jail where he was charged with OVI and driving under suspension. Ball tested .131 percent BAC.

The following subjects were processed into the Washington County Jail Monday and Tuesday:

* Vincent Edward Roberts, 37, 1920 Roberts Road, Amesville, probation violation.

* Herman James Dalton, 32, 704 Elm St., Apt. 1, Belpre, probation violation.

* David James Smearman III, 31, 570 Albright Road, Beverly, possessing drug abuse instruments.

MARIETTA — On June 6 the following reports were released by Washington County Sheriff’s Department:

June 4

* Josh L. Beatty, Amesville, reported to Deputy J. McConnell the theft of items from his home.

June 5

* Sgt. McGilton responded to Steven Pinkerman’s residence at 3011 Barth Road, Belpre. A dog door at the rear of the residence, open and accessible for the dogs to exit, was viewed. Pinkerman’s three dogs were observed through the storm door window and McGilton had to place her leg in front of the dog door blocking the dogs from exiting the residence. McGilton knocked at the door; however, no one appeared to be home. McGilton then placed a metal barrel in front of the dog door blocking it. On May 25 Pinkerman’s dog ran loose onto Barth Road and chased a subject on a motorcycle, almost causing the subject to wreck. A summons is being requested for Steven Pinkerman for failing to restrain.

* Deputies were dispatched to 490 Tick Ridge Road in reference to William Tanner calling 911 multiple times advising he was drunk, disorderly and wanted a ride. Deputies advised a male identified as Tanner walked toward the end of the driveway with an aggressive stance. Deputies advised Tanner’s belt was off and wrapped around his hand as if he was preparing to fight. Tanner had an abrasion on the end of his nose, which he states he gave himself and then proceeded to demonstrate how he punched himself. William Joseph Tanner, 21, 575 Leachtown Lane, Walker, W.Va., was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct and transported to the Washington County Jail.

* Deputy Parks issued a citation for speed, 53 mph in a 25 mph zone, (Second and Washington Street) to Casey Michael Farnese, 11595 Highland Ridge Road, Macksburg.

* Deputy Brown received a warrant from the Pleasants County, West Virginia Magistrate Court for the arrest of Michael A. Wallace II (current inmate) on a felony criminal complaint. The warrant information was compared with information given to booking upon processing of Wallace, with the information being a match. A charge of fugitive from justice was filed on Michael A. Wallace II, 105 Leland Avenue, Marietta, through Marietta Municipal Court.

The following subjects were processed into the Washington County Jail Tuesday and Wednesday:

* William Joseph Tanner, 21, 575 Leachtown Lane, Walker, W.Va., disorderly conduct.

* Christopher Adam Sciance, 28, 243 Muskingum Drive, Marietta, criminal trespass.

* Jesse Randall Widener, 36, 765 Lessig Ave., Akron, on a warrant for nonsupport of dependents.

* Gavin Gregory Earley, 25, 1426 Earley Ridge Road, New Matamoras, probation violation.
