Washington Sheriff

MARIETTA — On March 21 the Washington County Sheriff’s Department released the following reports:

March 18

* Deputy Parks along with the Wesley Volunteer Fire Department responded to the Philip Gage property, 209 Hickel Drive, to a trailer fire. No injuries were reported and the trailer was destroyed.

* Deputy J. McConnell along with the Reno and Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Departments, along with the Williamstown Volunteer Fire Department responded to the Cynthia Starling residence, 202 Simpson St., Marietta, to a house fire. The home was destroyed.

* Sgt. Reeder responded to the Jack A. Buck residence, 117 Pineview Drive, Marietta, to investigate a burglary complaint. Numerous items, including musical equipment, firearms and currency, were removed. This case remains under investigation.

March 19

* Deputy Jones initiated a traffic stop after a red Chevrolet pick-up truck committed numerous traffic violations. The driver was identified as Colton Ryan Balderson, 29, 7184 Muskingum River Road, Waterford. Balderson said he had a 9mm handgun on his lap and a loaded magazine in the glove compartment. Balderson said he did not have a concealed carry permit, and was driving under suspension. Balderson was issued a citation for driving under suspension and was placed under arrest for improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle, with him providing false information on his identity.

Deputy McKee was certain the subject was not the individual he portrayed himself to be. The driver was asked to exit the vehicle and upon exiting, took off on foot at which time McKee gave chase. After a short chase the driver was taken down and ultimately identified as Marcus Maurice Kimbrough, 29, 103 Woodcrest Lane, Marietta. Kimbrough said he used the false name as he knew he had outstanding warrants for his arrest. Kimbrough was taken into custody on the outside warrant and also charged with obstructing official business, resisting arrest, driving under suspension as well as a parking violation. Kimbrough was transported to the Washington County Jail for processing.

* Lt. Hunter along with the Lowell Adams Volunteer Fire Department responded to the property of Kenneth Huck, Huck Road, Lowell, to a brush fire. No injuries were reported.

The following subjects were recently sentenced in Washington County Common Pleas Court:

* Michael Vernon Boyce, 51, 1360 Silver Glove Road, Marietta, burglary, felony; 120 days County Jail and STAR program.

* Charles Everett Murray, 26, 6970 Goshen Road, Goshen, Ohio, burglary, fourth degree felony; 180 days county jail/Portsmouth Counseling Center.

The following subjects were processed into the Washington County Jail Tuesday and Wednesday:

* Everett Christopher Freeland, 33, 1572 Elizabeth St., Belpre, probation violation, a felony.

* Cody Bryant Hinkle, 25, 47393 Centerville Jacobsburg Road, Jacobsburg, Ohio, conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder, felonious assault, aggravated burglary, tampering with evidence, and having weapons under disability, all felonies.

* Challis Curtis Howell, 35, 18695 Ohio 26, Reno, endangering children, a misdemeanor.

MARIETTA — On March 22, the Washington County Sheriff’s Department released the following reports:

March 19

* Deputy Carr responded to 1831 Fairview Ridge Road, New Matamoras, to a domestic complaint. Lacey Schmidt reported an altercation with her spouse, Trent Schmidt, and a juvenile. After investigating the events of the day, Deputy Carr placed Trent Wesley Schmidt, 38, under arrest for two counts of domestic violence. Schmidt was transported to the Washington County Jail.

* Sgt. McGilton was called to the residence of Rhonda Martin, 259 Sandhill Road, Marietta Township, in regard to a loose dog running from the residence. Rhonda’s dog ran after and attacked another dog that was restrained and being walked by its owner. Rhonda’s dog bit the person walking their dog causing two lacerations on the person’s hand. Rhonda’s dog was restrained on her property by another neighbor. Contact was made with Rhonda who admitted her dog got loose regularly and this was an ongoing issue. Rhonda Martin, 37, was cited for failing to restrain her dog through Marietta Municipal Court and was given a copy of her citation. Rhonda’s dog was designated as dangerous due to this incident.

March 20

* Deputy McKee, along with the Wesley, Little Hocking and Chesterhill volunteer fire departments, responded to a house fire at the Monica Mayle residence, 644 Southland Cemetery Road, Cutler. The house was destroyed.

* Deputy Jones met with Peter Hasley, 5510 Ohio 26, Marietta, regarding a missing license plate from his vehicle.

The following warrants have been processed at the Washington County Sheriff’s Office:

* William J. Toncray, 112 1/2 Lee St., Belpre, for failure to appear. Original charge was possession of drugs.

* Aaron W. Cain, 16687 Crooked Tree Road, Dexter City, Ohio, for failure to appear. Original charge was driving under suspension.

* Joseph A. Carpenter, 65 Church Street, Vincent, on two warrants for failure to appear. Original charges were possession of marijuana and OVI.

* John T. Licklider, 2608 Creekwillow Place, Grove City, Ohio, for failure to appear.

The following subjects were processed into the Washington County Jail Wednesday and Thursday

* Corey Enos Singer, 39, 1042 Hadley Lane, Marietta, for domestic violence.

* Steven Frank Simon, 42, 2335 Newbury Road, Little Hocking, for disorderly conduct.

* Alex Thomas Klintworth, 25, 300 Starlite Drive, Lot 38, Marietta, for probation violation.

* Jacob Kyle Rowe, 27, on three warrants for possession of drugs and two warrants for trafficking in drugs.

* Brittany Marie Wheeler, 27, on three warrants for possession of drugs and two warrants for trafficking in drugs.

MARIETTA — The Washington County Sheriff’s Department reported the following subjects were processed into the Washington County Jail Thursday and Friday:

* Jeremy Ray Davis, 39, 1072 Leith Run Road, New Matamoras, on a warrant for failure to restrain or confine a dog.

* Joshua Wade Fortney, 32, unknown address, for probation violation.

* Liane Marie Gray-Starner, 57, 402 Belleview St., Marietta, for driving while under the influence.

* Chase Daniel Bickford, 18, 21 Stoney Run Road, Beverly, for driving while under the influence.

* Christopher Brian Parker, 33, 160 Strahler Road, Waterford, for breach of recognizance.

* Stephen Eric Bonnette, 37, 181 Cave Hill Road, Little Hocking, for theft.

* Terry Allen Chandler, 31, 9075 Ohio 377, Chesterhill, Ohio, for aggravated robbery.

* Sandra M. Parlin, 844 Maple St., Parkersburg, for failure to appear. Original charge was probation violation.
