ATHENS, Ohio– On Feb. 22 the following reports were released by Athens County Sheriff’s Department:

Feb. 21

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to York Township for a well-being check. A parent called in concerned about their child due to text messages they received at work. Attempts to reach the child’s other parent had been unsuccessful. Deputies made contact with the other parent who said everyone was sleeping due to the late hour. The child was found to be safe and well.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to The Plains for a possible medical emergency. A store employee said a man was banging on their door claiming he needed medical treatment. Deputies made contact with the man who was requesting to be taken to the hospital due to severe pain in his face and jaw from an ongoing injury.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to Waterloo Township for a domestic dispute. Deputies made contact with the female who said her husband left prior to the arrival of the deputy. She said the dispute was verbal.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to Lodi Township for a suicide attempt. The caller said his adult son swallowed a large amount of pills and attempted to cut his wrist.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on Bethany Ridge of a male yelling. Contact was made with the subject who had fallen in the bathroom and injured his wrist.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to Sandstone Terrace in reference to a dispute. The initial complaint was an erratic man with a gun. It was learned the complainant left the residence with the suspect’s child and it made him angry. It was later learned the mother gave permission for the complainant to take the child. The gun was found to be a BB gun. The suspect denied pointing it at the complainant or firing it at her.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by a female reporting her mother recently passed away and her brother was at the mother’s residence removing items from the garage. When deputies arrived on scene the brother left the area. Contact was made with the brother who said he was collecting some of his own belongings. He was asked to allow probate to determine further as to any major items of value and the matter will be referred to the prosecutor’s office to determine if any laws were broken.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to North Plains Road in reference to an intoxicated male subject. Upon arrival deputies made contact at Connett Road. There was a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the male subject. Deputies transported him to a sober friend’s residence on East First Street.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to Old Seven Road for a report of a missing person. Deputies located the missing person on U.S. 50 at the intersection of Ohio 144.

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to West Sycamore Street for a trespass complain. Deputies made contact with a female who appeared to be under the influence of a hallucinogenic drug. Deputies made contact with a relative to resume care. The female was transported to Jacksonville where she was further served a trespass complaint

* The Athens County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by a male concerned about a local registered offender who is living in a home with children. Data was checked and to reside in the vicinity of children would not violate the terms of the offender’s registration status.
