ATHENS, Ohio — The Athens County Sheriff’s Office released the following reports Oct. 2:

* On Sept. 29, The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a possible domestic dispute in Trimble. Deputies arrived on scene and spoke with the involved parties. The parties were married but currently separated. An argument occurred over property at the residence. Both parties were advised to file for divorce and take the property issues to the court so they could be resolved. No threats or violence or physical violence had occurred. The female returned to her other residence so no further issues would arise.

* On Sept. 29, The Athens County Sheriff’s Office received a report of two suspicious males entering a business in The Plains wearing hoodies. Deputies patrolled the area but did not locate any persons matching the description.

* On Sept. 29, The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to North Street in The Plains for a report of an unruly juvenile. Deputies made contact with the male juvenile suspect, who was outside the residence on arrival. The complainant advised her son had thrown rocks at the residence hitting windows. It was advised that the juvenile was upset and would not calm down. The complainant was referred to juvenile court to file unruly charges.

* On Sept. 29, The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to Niggemeyer Road in Guysville for a protection order violation report. Deputies were informed by the courts that a subject was found to have a protection order filed earlier in the day. It was found that the subject violated that order multiple times which warranted charges. Deputies attempted to seek that subject on those charges with negative contact. This case is under investigation.

* On Sept. 29, The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to Dutch Ridge Road for a trespassing complaint. The complainant stated that a neighbor was witnessed mowing her property and requested a trespass warning be filed due to several past issues. Both parties were addressed and it was determined that probable cause was met for filing the trespass warning.

* On Sept. 29, The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to Federal Road in Coolville for a patrol request. Caller advised that a possible drunk driver was in the area and causing distress with his passenger. Deputies patrolled that area with negative contact. This case was closed.

* On Sept. 29, The Athens County Sheriff’s Office were requested on Mill Street in Chauncey regarding threats and harassment. Once on scene, the responding deputy spoke with the complainant and the other involved party.

* On Sept. 29, The Athens County Sheriff’s Office was called to State Route 329 for a report of an active fight. Upon arrival, the homeowner stated that a male came to the property after having previously been warned not to be there. The male then was reported to have started a physical altercation with the residents of the property. Contact was attempted with the male to obtain his account of the events but he had fled prior to deputy arrival. This matter remains under investigation.

* On Sept. 29, The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to McDougal Road for a report of an intoxicated male. Once on scene, deputies spoke with both the intoxicated male and the complainant. The intoxicated male was arrested for disorderly conduct by intoxication and transported to SEORJ for a six-hour hold.

* On Sept. 30, The Athens County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to an East Third Street residence on report of vehicles being entered overnight and items missing.

* On Sept. 30, The Athens County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a stolen Highpoint .45 caliber pistol stolen from a residence in The Plains.

* On Sept. 30, a resident of Campbell Street in The Plains reports that sometime overnight someone entered her vehicle and stole some change.

* On Sept. 30, The Athens County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a West Second Street residence in The Plains on a report of a vehicle that was entered overnight with several CD’s taken.

* On Sept. 30, The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Coolville area in reference to a harassment complaint. The caller reported his ex-wife’s new boyfriend had sent him a sexually oriented photo of him and the ex-wife along with unwanted messages. Contact was made with the suspect who was told not to have any further contact with the complainant.

* On Sept. 30, a resident of West Second Street in The Plains reported that sometime overnight someone entered her vehicle and stole change.

* On Sept. 30, The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to The Plains in reference to a male having hallucinations and out of body experiences. Once on scene, it was decided to have the male transported to the hospital for a medical and mental evaluation.

* On Sept. 30, The Athens County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to Dollar General in The Plains on a theft complaint. Deputies arrived on scene and found the theft occurred earlier in the day.

* On Sept. 30, The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to Circle 33 Drive in reference to a harassment complaint. The complainant had been receiving unwanted calls and messages from a family member. Contact was made with the family member involved and she was asked not to have any further contact with the complainant.

* On Sept. 30, The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to Oakdale Road for a report of a suicidal person. Deputies made contact with the male who left the scene on foot prior to deputy’s arrival. The male expressed that he no longer wished to live anymore. Due to other circumstances in the case, the male was transported to Ohio Health O’Bleness Memorial Hospital for evaluation.

* On Sept. 30, The Athens County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a theft of a Pepsi sign on Osborn Road in Torch. Once on scene, the caller advised the Pepsi sign was related to the Field of Screams. There are no known suspects at this time. * On Sept. 30, The Athens County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to Lang Road for a report of an active burglary. Upon arriving on scene, it was discovered the female was in the process of moving, and was collecting items from her shed. The ownership of some items was disputed between the female and the caller, and both parties were advised it was a civil issue and needed to be decided through the courts.

* On Sept. 30, Christopher Porter was arrested by Pomeroy Police Department on an active warrant filed in Athens Municipal Court for failure to appear. Porter was transported to SEORJ pending court and or bond.

* On Sept. 30, The Athens County Sheriff’s Office was called to Carbondale for a report of a catalytic converter that had been stolen off of a Ford Explorer parked in the area. The complainant provided a name of a neighbor who they suspected, but stated that if things were made right in regard to getting the vehicle fixed, no charges would be pursued. This matter remains under investigation.

* On Sept. 30, The Athens County Sheriff’s Office was called to Frost Hill Road in Coolville for a trespass complaint. The caller advised that a male had been staying in a tent on her property without her permission. Deputies were unable to make contact with the male. Deputies advised that complainant that she could remove the tent from the property since she owned the property.

* On Oct. 1, The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to a commercial intrusion alarm on United Lane outside Athens. On scene, deputies found that entry had been made to the building. Suspects had left the scene prior to arrival. The case is under further investigation.

* On Oct 1, The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to State Route 78 in Glouster for a report of a dispute. Deputies arrived and spoke with a complainant who advised a neighbor had made statements to his grandson he did not approve of. Deputies spoke with the neighbor who denied these allegations. At this time, with no other witnesses to the case, parties were requested to remain separated. This case is closed.

* On Oct. 1, The Athens County Sheriff’s Office took a report of harassment from Dean Road by phone. Deputies spoke with the complainant as well as the suspect. Both parties were advised to not contact the other until both could speak civil with each other.

* On Oct. 1, an unknown citizen turned in a wallet that he located near Staples on East State Street. The wallet contained the owner’s ID, credit cards and cash. The wallet was logged into evidence for safe keeping pending notification of the owner.

* On Oct. 1, a deer was hit by a car on Route 50 near Guysville. Deputies responded and put the deer down due to the injuries sustained from being hit.

* On Oct. 1, The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to Troy Township where an individual reported locating material thought to be narcotics. Material was taken into custody and later tested with narcotics identification field test kit and confirmed to contain methamphetamine. The substance was secured into evidence at the Athens County Sheriff’s Office with a request for destruction.
