Wood Sheriff

PARKERSBURG — On March 28 the Wood County Sheriff’s Department released the following reports:

March 24

* Deputies responded to Blennerhassett Middle School in reference to a 14-year-old. Items were recovered from the juvenile’s locker and a juvenile citation was issued for possession of tobacco.

* A citation was issued to Madison Kay Gwynn, 18, of Red Peak Circle for failure to obey traffic signal (red light).

* Deputies responded to Elder Street in reference to a domestic dispute that was called in by a third party. Deputies made contact with involved subjects who appeared confused as to why deputies were called. Deputies observed no evidence of any crime or dispute. A local check, however, showed an active capias on the male subject. Anthony Charles Smith, 31, of Elder Street, was arrested on the capias for driving on suspended license. He was transported to the holding center where he was processed then placed to await his arraignment.

* A deputy responded to check on a disabled motorist southbound on I-77 near the weigh station. The driver and passenger advised they had broken down and help was on the way to tow the vehicle; a local check showed the passenger to have an active warrant on file. Joshua Allen Prunty, 34, of Elizabeth, was arrested on the warrant for domestic battery. He was transported to the holding center for processing then arraigned before a magistrate where he was released on bond and then given a ride to Camden Avenue.

* Deputies were advised Blendon Township Police Department in Franklin County. Ohio, had taken a report of a stolen Ford F250 and that the GPS on the vehicle placed it on Kinchelo Road in Waverly. Deputies checked the area and located the vehicle where a male subject was unhooking a camper from the truck. The male advised he was test driving the truck, the owner was contacted and advised the male was not given permission to take the truck. The male was arrested and while searching him a white powdery substance was located in his pant pocket. The deputy also detected the odor of marijuana and the female involved stated it was in her purse. Also located in a container were a white substance believed to be cocaine and a small amount of marijuana. James David Middleton, 51, of Morse Road, Columbus, Ohio, was arrested on charges of bringing stolen property into the state and a citation was issued for possession. Denise J. Henning, 51, of Oaklawn Street, Columbus, Ohio, was issued a citation for possession of marijuana less than 15 grams.

March 25

* Deputies responded to Emerson Avenue in reference to a single-vehicle crash involving a water truck. Upon arrival the driver was sitting outside the water truck and reported that he was traveling south on Emerson Avenue when he fell asleep, drifted to the right striking the guardrail where the truck went through the guardrail and down the hill where it flipped onto the driver side. The vehicle was towed.

* A deputy responded to Staunton Turnpike in reference to a vehicle crash over the embankment. The deputy located the vehicle over the steep embankment and made contact with the driver who advised he could not get out of the vehicle as the vehicle was heavily damaged on top. After fire and EMS arrived the driver was able to crawl through the window with assistance. A citation was issued to Christopher Michael Sims, 44, of Walker Road, Walker for second-offense DUI.

* Deputies responded to the Red Carpet Inn in reference to a male subject being in violation of a domestic violence protection order attempting to make contact with the petitioner. The deputy made contact with the female and advised the male was in a white pickup truck; at this time another deputy arrived and located the pickup backing out of a parking spot. Upon contact with the driver Stephen William Gandee Jr., 39, of Sayre Avenue, was arrested on a charge of violation of protective order. He was arraigned and posted a $1,000 surety bond.

* A traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle and upon contact with the driver he advised the registration on the vehicle was expired and he did not have a driver’s license. A local check showed a felony capias out of Wood County Circuit Court and was further advised that it also showed an NCIC hit as a wanted person for a probation violation. A further check through magistrate court records also showed an active warrant for petit larceny. Gregory Alan Horner, 34, of Lexington Park Drive, Vienna, was arrested on the charges of driving on revoked license for DUI and petit larceny. He was processed and placed pending arraignment.

* A citation was issued to Aaron Troutman, 20, of Glenn Avenue for failure to obey traffic control signal (stop sign).

* A citation was issued to Samuel Alan Sams, 42, of Windsor Drive, Mineral Wells, for use of a mobile communication device while driving.

* A traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle after the deputy observed the windshield to be cracked and spider webbed which hindered the driver being able to see out in front of her. A citation was issued to Kimberly C. Forshey, 48, of Mission Drive, Amesville, Ohio, for defective equipment (windshield) and no proof of insurance.

* A citation was issued to Aaron David Goldsmith, 26, of Tracewell Avenue, for no motorcycle endorsement and no insurance.

* A deputy responded to Marrtown Road at DuPont Road in reference to a two-vehicle accident. Contact was made with both occupants and a citation was issued to Brian K. Conrad, 38, of Main Street, Heislerville, N.J., for no insurance.

* A deputy while monitoring traffic eastbound on U.S. 50 observed a Ford Fiesta eastbound traveling at a high rate of speed. The deputy’s hand held radar unit measured the speed at 132 mph; as the vehicle passed the deputy its speed drastically reduced. A traffic stop was conducted with the driver stating he was unsure of the speed. A citation was issued to Jonathan R. Burgess, 28, of Franklin Drive, Little Hocking, Ohio, for speeding, 132 mph in a 65 mph zone.

* A traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle and a citation was issued to a 16-year-old male of Drag Strip Road, Belpre, Ohio, for speeding, 74 mph in a 65 mph zone.

* A traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle with a local check showing an active capias issued out of Wood County Family Court. Charles Vernon Alltop, 54, of Old St. Marys Pike was arrested on the capias and for driving on revoked license for DUI.

March 26

* Deputies responded to Crystal Springs Drive in Washington, W.Va., in reference to an underage party. Deputies arrived and observed through the window multiple subjects running throughout the house. Deputies knocked with a male answering the door and upon entering the residence observed between 30 and 40 people inside with alcohol throughout the residence. Everyone under the age of 21 was given a FST, everyone under the age of 18 had to call a parent or guardian to come and pick them up. Two juveniles were unable to make contact with a parent and were given a ride by the deputy to their residence. Citations were issued to Bradley A. Emerick, 20, of Brown Avenue; Starr A. Johnson, 20, of Montgomery Street, Marietta, Ohio; Hayley Dawn Cunningham, 19, of Wildwood Drive; Anna Marie Elizabeth Rake, 20, of 17th Street; Aziah Angeliqune Munos of Fourth Street, Marietta, Ohio; Loren Ashley Hays, 18, of 7th Avenue; Shaylyn Marie Bumgarner, 19, of Wildwood Drive; Brianna Rae Owen, 20, of Wildwood Drive; Ethan James Plants, 19, of Club Drive Washington, W.Va.; Taiven Kyree Miller, 19, of Carlisle Road, Belpre, Ohio, and a 17-year-old male of Woodcliff Drive, Washington, for underage consumption. A citation was also issued to Jordan Alexander Hockman, 19, of Crystal Springs Drive for possession of marijuana, less than 15 grams.

* A deputy spoke with a complainant who lives on Wind Dancer Lane who reported that mailboxes at the end of the lane had appeared to be smashed or vandalized. The deputy also checked the area of Kesterson Road and Homewood Road and observed a damaged mailbox on Kesterson Road.

* Deputies spoke with complainants on Oakbrook Lane in Mineral Wells where it was reported mailboxes had been smashed or vandalized overnight. Investigation is ongoing.

* A deputy responded to Dickens Drive regarding a destruction of property to a vehicle. The complainants reported they were ready to leave for church and observed that both driver side tires were flat and then noticed a puncture.

* A citation was issued to David Robert Fowler, 33, of 13th Street for speeding 78 mph in a 55 mph zone.

March 27

* Joshua Ryan Muntz, 28, of Julian Street, Newport, Ohio, was arrested on an active capias after he failed to appear on charge of possession of oxycodone.

* A deputy responded to Harris Ferry Road in reference to a breaking and entering to a pole building garage and two other outbuildings. The complainant reported he had been out of town during the daytime returning at night at which time an unknown person(s) had entered his outbuildings and taking several items including three transmissions, a Craftsman four drawer tool box with tools, two front drive shafts with one-ton joints, exterior of drive shafts, hubs, axels and various tools.

* Ashley Nicole Tanner, 19, of Coolville Ridge Road, Athens, Ohio, was served with two felony warrants while she had been present at magistrate court for a hearing.

* Tracy Lynn Jack, 40, of Coolville Ridge Road, Athens, Ohio, was served with three warrants, two originating from Pleasants County and one from Mason County; she was processed, arraigned and lodged pending bond.

* A deputy responded to Mound Street in reference to a storage unit being broken into. The complainant reported on this date he had gone to the storage unit and when he unlocked the bolt the latch and lock fell to the ground and he observed several items to be missing. He observed the outer wall had been cut to gain entry in the connecting unit behind his. He reported two Corian shower wall kits were taken, a DeWalt contractor saw, a window AC unit, a 50 inch LED television and a Craftsman pressure washer.

March 28

* A deputy observed a female walking southbound in the northbound lane of Emerson Avenue and observed the female to be unsteady on her feet while almost falling down in the driving lane of traffic. Upon contact with the female he detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her person. Brenda Sue Richards, 48, of Sixth Street was issued a citation for public intoxication and given a ride to Sixth Street where she was released to a sober party.
