MARIETTA — On March 17 the following reports were released by the Washington County Sheriff’s Department:

March 16

* Sgt. McGilton responded to 29725 State Route 7, Marietta, in reference to three dogs attacking a goat at this location. Sgt. McGilton observed a large Chow-Heeler mixed breed dog, a red Heeler and a hound dog on the property attacking a goat that was tied to a shed in a fenced area. The goat was screaming as the dogs attacked it and the dogs took off running. Sgt. McGilton was able to capture one of the dogs and restrain it. A humane officer arrived on scene and assisted Sgt. McGilton in capturing the other two dogs and restraining them in a fenced area on the property. The goat was transported to a veterinary clinic for treatment. This case remains under investigation.

* Sgt. Holbert was dispatched to Marietta Township in reference to a male subject sending obscene text messages. This case remains open for investigation.

* Washington County Jail personnel were advised of a possible assault in one of the dorms. Through an investigation, it was found that Shaun Allen Gates, 1225 Greene St., Marietta, was assaulted by Timothy Matthew Ryan, 26, 124 Buells Circle, Marietta, who was charged with assault, a first degree misdemeanor.

The following warrant was processed at the Washington County Sheriff’s Office:

* John Ragalyi, 370 Danas Run Road, Newport, for failure to appear.

The following subject was recently sentenced in Washington County Common Pleas Court:

* John Estes, 29, 115 Ohio Blvd., Marietta, second-degree felonious assault and misdemeanor violation protection order sentenced to three years and six months at Orient and court costs.

The following suspects were processed into the Washington County Jail Thursday and Friday:

* Thomas Lee Lyons, 28, 216 Pauline St., Akron, for drug instruments possession, a misdemeanor. Lyons was picked up at Summit County by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the jail at 9:48 p.m. Thursday.

* Sherman Dewayne Holder, 55, 523 Second St., Marietta, for disorderly conduct intoxication, a misdemeanor. Holder was arrested on Second Street by the Marietta Police Department and processed into the jail at 1:32 a.m. Friday.

* Daniel Dewayne Lewis Jr., 30, 4631 Wingate Road, Columbus, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Lewis was arrested at Marietta Municipal Court by the Marietta Police Department and processed into the jail at 9:30 a.m. Friday.
