Athens Sheriff

ATHENS — On Oct. 4, the Athens County Sheriff’s Office released the following reports.

* On Oct. 3, deputies were called to Capos Road, Glouster, for a report of a breaking and entering.

* On Oct. 3, the sheriff’s office was dispatched to Lowery Road, Athens, in regard to horses being out and causing damage to a newly seeded lawn. The complainant stated that this is not the first time this has occurred. A written statement was obtained from the complainant and photographs were taken. The owner of the horses was cited into court for a charge of animals at large, a misdemeanor of the fourth degree.

* On Oct. 3, the Athens County Criminal Interdiction Unit conducted a traffic stop on U.S. 33 near Nelsonville.  During the traffic stop, K-9 Bora was deployed and had a positive indication on the vehicle. During the search of the vehicle, two lock boxes that contained items indicative of the trafficking of methamphetamine were located. Inside the boxes, a residue was located that later field tested positive for methamphetamine. Deputies also located a white crystal-like powder in the subjects’ wallet that also tested positive for methamphetamine. All items have been sent to BCI for testing.

*On Oct. 3, the sheriff’s office received a complaint of a stolen iPhone in The Plains.

* On Oct. 4, deputies were dispatched to Connett Road in The Plains for a report of an assault. Deputies spoke with the victim who did not wish to pursue charges at this time. The victim also reported that the assailant took prescription medication from him. Deputies have attempted to contact the suspect.

ATHENS — On Oct. 5, the Athens County Sheriff’s Office released the following reports.

* On Oct. 4, the Athens County Criminal Interdiction Unit conducted a traffic stop at the Plains Valero gas station. The registered owner, Kimberly Aeiker, was found to have an active nationwide warrant. As the vehicle came to a stop, a female passenger exited the vehicle and fled the area. The female was later located and identified as Amanda Ruth who also had a nationwide warrant. During the stop, deputies located narcotics in plain view. A search of the vehicle was done and other narcotics were located. Those items will be sent to BCI for testing. Additional charges will be submitted to the grand jury. Kimberly Aeiker, 55, of Albany and Amanda Ruth, 37, of The Plains, were arrested pursuant to the active warrants and transported to the Middleport Jail.

* On Oct. 4, the sheriff’s office was dispatched to the CeeDee Carryout in Chauncey in reference to a suspected impaired female subject who had run into another patron, as well as the employees advising the suspect to leave. Deputies were able to make contact with the female subject who advised that she was not impaired but suffers from other medical conditions that have symptoms that could be perceived as being impaired. The female subject went to her residence and no further actions were needed.

* On Oct. 4, the sheriff’s office responded to the Rhoric Road, Athens, in reference to a report of theft. Upon arrival, contact was made with the complainant pertaining to a large amount of tools that was stolen from their driveway.

* On Oct. 5, deputies responded to a West Bailey Road address outside Nelsonville for a report of suspicious persons. The caller advised that two clowns were seen outside of her house. On scene, deputies conducted both vehicle and foot patrols of the area. Negative contact was made with any individuals in the area.

* On Oct. 5, at 5:52 a.m., deputies responded to Trimble Twp. in reference to threats/harassment complaint. The victim was advised to contact Glouster Police Department directly due to this not being an active incident and GPD who would handle the matter from that point.
