Wood County Circuit Court

PARKERSBURG — William Joseph Mitchell was sentenced to four to 20 years in prison Thursday on charges of burglary and attempted murder.

According to a court records, Mitchell, 34, entered the home of Ryan Morehouse, at 1023 Southern Highway, Mineral Wells, in October and removed eight firearms and $1,500, among other items, from the home. Mitchell then fired a weapon approximately three times toward a vehicle being driven by Bret Parsons on Southern Highway, striking it twice.

Wood County Circuit Court Judge J.D. Beane sentenced Mitchell to one to five years in prison on the burglary charge with credit for 68 days served and three to 15 years on the attempted murder count, to run consecutively.

Other cases before Beane Thursday:

* Shawn Miller, 34, 2503 Beverly St., Apartment 12 B, Parkersburg, who is indicted on a count of grand larceny and transferring or receiving stolen goods, did not appear for a status hearing. A capias warrant was issued, and his bond has been revoked.

* Paul Lyons, 29, in custody at the North Central Regional Jail, pleaded guilty to fleeing in a vehicle with reckless indifference and receiving stolen property. He will be sentenced at 9:30 a.m. April 18.

* The attorney for Joseph Hutson Jr., 19, in custody on a kidnapping charge, made motion to suppress the victim’s identification of him during trial since she was unable to identify him from a photo array within 24 hours of the alleged incident. Beane denied the motion, as well as a motion for a bond reduction.
