Wood County Circuit Court

PARKERSBURG — Wood County Circuit Court heard the following cases Oct. 9.

* In Judge Jason Wharton’s Court, Jeremy Lane Cheeseman, 30, in custody at the North Central Regional Jail in Doddridge County, was found guilty of a second-degree robbery charge.

Cheeseman was arrested Jan. 9 after he allegedly entered the Williamstown Bank branch on Seventh Street in Parkersburg and demanded a teller give him all the money in the drawer. Court documents state that he kept his hands in his pockets, leading the teller to believe he was armed, but was only carrying a small flashlight.

Cheeseman was committed to West Virginia Department of Corrections for five to 18 years with credit for 274 days. Cheeseman was ordered to pay $267 in court costs and a $40 restitution to the Williamstown Bank.

Other cases heard in Judge Jason Wharton’s Court:

* Christopher Rowan, 31, 740 Frontage Road, Mineral Wells, failed to appear, checked out of Recovery Point unsuccessfully completing the program and has not contacted his attorney for three months. The state made a motion for a capias to be issued and his bond be revoked. The court granted the motion.

* Ares Matthew Harlan, 31, 1206 Swann St., Parkersburg, failed to appear, was unsuccessful in completing the FRMS Health Systems program and has not appeared for adult probation. The state made a motion for a capias to be issued and his bond be revoked. The court granted the motion.

* Jessica R. Pappas, 30, 1033 24th St., Parkersburg, will begin trial on the charge of failure to appear on Nov. 27 at 9 a.m.

* Sylvia Casto, 49, in custody, was found guilty of possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, methamphetamine. She was committed to the West Virginia Department of Corrections for one to five years with credit for 65 days.

In Judge J.D. Beane’s Court:

* Nickolas Arther Holts, 30, in custody, admitted to allegations against him of violating his terms of probation. The court revoked his probation and re-sentenced him for two counts of forgery to one to 10 years in the West Virginia Department of Corrections with credit for 267 days.

* Elzie Leon Williams, 30, 595 Shiloh Road, Waverly, was found guilty of a charge of delivery of methamphetamine, and was committed to the West Virginia Department of Corrections for one to five years with credit for 175 days and participating in the day reporting program.

PARKERSBURG — The following cases were heard in Wood County Circuit Court on Oct. 10.

In Judge Jason Wharton’s Court:

* Michael K. Bass, 31, 1302 Dillaway St., Parkersburg, was supposed to be sentenced on a charge of grand larceny but did not appear in court. His bond has been revoked by the court and a capias was issued.

In Judge J.D. Beane’s Court:

* Scott Edward Joy, 39, 4008 2nd Ave., Parkersburg, withdrew his former plea of not guilty and pleaded guilty to count two, brandishing, and count six, obstruction. His sentencing is set for Dec. 10 at 9 a.m.

* Carles Ray Ward, 30, in custody on charge of manufacturing, delivering, possession with intent to deliver, methamphetamine, will have a final hearing on Oct. 29 at 10:45 a.m.

*Alan Douglas Stull, 40, in custody, was charged with absconding from home confinement and his bond was set at $100,000.

* John Joseph Kinard, 42, in custody, pleaded guilty to count one, delivery of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, and count five, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. He has been committed to the West Virginia Department of Corrections for 1 to 5 years with credit for 191 days for count one and two years to run consecutively for count five.
