Wood Magistrate

PARKERSBURG — Wood County Magistrate Court released the following reports July 22:

* Joey Allen Barnett, 36, 703 29th St., Vienna, was arraigned on a charge of fraudulent use of an access device and released on a $10,000 surety bond.

* Diane Elizabeth Hutson, 36, 1409 Spring St., Parkersburg, was arraigned on a charge of battery and released on a $3,000 surety bond.

* Kayla Louise Menking, 27, 1314 Spring St., Apt. 1, Parkersburg, was arraigned on charges of obstructing, battery of a police officer and failure to render information and released on a $10,000 surety bond.

* James Edward Wallbrown, 30, 413 E. Eighth St., Parkersburg, was arraigned on charges of battery and possession of a controlled substance and held on a $5,000 bond.

* Jarron Nathaniel Farnsworth, 31, 824 37th St., Vienna, was arraigned on two counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count each of destruction of property and procuring gas, water or electric with intent to defraud. He was released on a $4,000 surety bond.

* Tara Marie Smith, 46, 517 Grandview St., Parkersburg, was arraigned on charges of shoplifting and driving on a license suspended for miscellaneous and released on a $1,000 personal recognizance bond.

* Joseph DeWayne Lemon, 30, of Parkersburg, was arraigned on a charge of domestic battery and released on a $4,000 surety bond.

* David Lee Phillips, 36, 718 Hall St., Parkersburg, was arraigned on a charge of second-offense shoplifting and released on a $1,000 personal recognizance bond.

* Scott Dewayne Bush, 39, 47 Elm St., Davisville, was arraigned on a charge of third-offense driving on a suspended or revoked license and released on a $500 surety bond.

* Marthana Gayle Savage, 50, 509 Kanawha St., Parkersburg, was arraigned on charges of receiving/transferring stolen goods, petit larceny and breaking and entering of an automobile and released on a $3,000 surety bond.

* Kari Lynn Caplinger, 24, 6 Meadowbrook Acres, Parkersburg, was arraigned on four counts of shoplifting and one count each of truancy and driving on a suspended/revoked license and held on a $300 cash and $4,000 surety bond.

* Nathan Joseph Hughes, 41, 1693 Rosemar Road, Parkersburg, was arraigned on a charge of battery and released on a $3,000 surety bond.

* Spring D. Stoops, 49, 877 Dry Run Road, Parkersburg, was arraigned on charges of driving on a suspended license, improper registration and no insurance and released on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond.

* Gilbert Carpenter, 37, 1335 Spring St., Parkersburg, was arraigned on a charge of obstructing. His bond was set at $2,000, but he was held on a separate felony capias warrant.

* Marlene Catherine Duley, 63, 1966¢ Princeton St., Parkersburg, was arraigned on a charge of reporting a false emergency and released on a $500 personal recognizance bond.

* Guy Eugene Morris, 45, 53 Riverside Road, Elizabeth, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to six months in jail, suspended for one year probation, and assessed $170.25 in fines and court costs.

* A charge of strangulation was dismissed without prejudice against James Brindo, 40, 78 Spencer Lane, Mineral Wells, after the alleged victim was not served and did not appear.

* A charge of speeding, 69 in a 65 mph zone, was dismissed against John P. Cox, 35, 10040 Staunton Turnpike, Walker, at the request of the charging officer because the state did not wish to pursue the case.

* Chase A. Hart, 18, 58 Aqua Circle, Lot 7, Parkersburg, pleaded guilty to speeding and was assessed $270.25 in fines and court costs.

* Phillip Michael Parsons, 31, 335 Hummingbird Lane, Ripley, pleaded guilty to shoplifting, was assessed $225.25 in fines and court costs and ordered to pay a $68.84 civil penalty to Wal-Mart.

* Nathan Lee Robertson, 32, 812 Neal St., Parkersburg, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance and was assessed $220.25 in fines and court costs.

* Joseph Gayle McElwee, 37, 956 Murphytown Road, Davisville, pleaded guilty to driving on a license revoked for driving under the influence and was sentenced to 30 days in jail with credit for 14 days served. He was also assessed $270.25 in fines and court costs.

* Christine Marie Wright, 48, 14 Belle Crest Lane, Fincastle, Va., pleaded guilty to DUI, a lesser included offense to the original charge of aggravated DUI. She was sentenced to 12 hours in jail, already served, and assessed $345.25 in fines and court costs.

* Cody Austin Corbin, 19, 75 North Power Ave., Parkersburg, was arraigned on a charge of destruction of property and released on a $500 personal recognizance bond.

* Joseph Matthew Joy, 32, of Parkersburg, was arraigned on a charge of domestic battery and held on a $1,500 surety bond.

* Ashley Nichole Dowler, 30, 1421 32nd St., Parkersburg, was arraigned on a charge of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and released on a $5,000 surety bond.

* Walter Ronald Jaraucaro Jr., 37, 1106 Edwin St., Parkersburg, waived preliminary hearings on two counts of uttering, and the case was bound over to Wood County Circuit Court. A third charge of uttering was dismissed because the victim did not appear.

* Brandon Lee Jones, 22, 401 N. Hickory St., Parkersburg, was arraigned on a charge of battery and released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond.

* Clark Evan Westbrook, 32, 128 19th St., Parkersburg, waived a preliminary hearing on a charge of grand larceny, and the case was bound over to Circuit Court.

* Angelita Nicole Cunningham, 35, 987 New England Ridge Road, Parkersburg, waived a preliminary hearing on a charge of burglary, and the case was bound over to Circuit Court. Her bond was converted to $10,000 surety.

Circuit Court

PARKERSBURG — Wood County Circuit Court heard the following cases July 22:

In Judge J.D. Beane’s court:

* Bond was set at $100,000 for Daniel Lee Frame, 36, in custody at the North Central Regional Jail, on a charge of first-degree robbery. The defense requested a $20,000 bond, but the court granted the state’s motion for the higher amount.

* James Earl Bee, 33, 1330 Avery St., Parkersburg, did not appear for a sentencing hearing on a charge of conspiracy to commit entering without breaking. His $5,000 bond was revoked, and the court granted a motion for a capias warrant to be issued.

* Sheldon Leon Morrison, 24, of Creston, was sentenced to one to five years in prison on a charge of strangulation, suspended for three years probation.

* Courtney Lea Klaseen, 32, of Parkersburg, was sentenced to three years in prison with credit for two days served on a charge of third-degree arson. The sentence was suspended for three years probation. Klaseen has already paid restitution.

* Jared M. Adkins, 27, was sentenced to one to five years in prison on a charge of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver; one year in jail, with credit for 99 days served, on a charge of second-offense driving on a license revoked for driving under the influence, a lesser included offense to the original charge of third-offense driving on a license revoked for DUI; and one year in jail on a charge of fleeing from an officer. The sentences were suspended for home confinement, with Adkins able to transition to probation once the driving on a revoked license sentence is served.

In Judge Robert Waters’ court:

* John D. Philpott, 24, in custody at the regional jail, was sentenced to one to five years in prison with credit for 634 days served after the court found he substantially violated his probation. Philpott had originally been sentenced to one to five years with credit for time served on a charge of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, with intent to deliver. That sentence was suspended for two years probation.
