ATHENS, Ohio — The Athens County Sheriff’s Office released the following reports Sept. 11:
• On Sept. 10, the Athens County Sheriff’s Office received numerous reports of vehicles in York Township being entered and items taken from them. These incidents are currently under investigation. Deputies would remind residents to remove valuables from their vehicles and also to lock the vehicle whenever left unattended.
• On Sept. 10, the Athens County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a stolen license plate that was taken from a vehicle in Chauncey. The owner of the license plate was unaware of it being stolen until they were contacted by law enforcement as the plate was located on a stolen vehicle. This matter is currently under investigation.
• On Sept. 10, the Athens County Sheriff’s Office took a report of an assault that occurred at Alexander Schools. The complainant stated that her son and a friend were over playing at the school and that two older kids came over and started hitting him and kicking him. This case is under further investigation.
