Wood Magistrate

PARKERSBURG — The following cases appeared in Wood County Magistrate Court on July 31:

* Holli R. Persons, 32, 20 Pioneer Circle, Apt. 106, Parkersburg, pleaded guilty to driving under suspension and was assessed $260.25 in fines and court costs. She pleaded guilty to receiving/transferring stolen goods and was assessed $185.25 in fines and court costs.

* Kayla M. Leasure, 25, 2607 Bartlett St., Parkersburg, pleaded guilty to shoplifting and was assessed $170.25 in fines and court costs and a $50 civil penalty.

* Brenda Kay Richards, 50, 49 Dutch Ridge Hills Terrace, Apt. 117, Parkersburg, pleaded guilty to aggravated driving under the influence, was sentenced to 30 days home confinement and was assessed $455.25 in fines and court costs.

* April Ann Ellis, 43, 41 Meadowbrook Acres, Parkersburg, pleaded guilty to shoplifting, was sentenced to $170.25 in fines and court costs and a $50 civil penalty. She pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance, was sentenced to 90 days jail suspended for one year of probation and was assessed $185.25 in fines and court costs.

* Dava Diane Darling, 28, 1807 Avery St., Parkersburg, pleaded guilty to driving under suspension and failure to report an accident and was assessed $430.50 in fines and court costs.

* Caleb Matthew Deem, 19, 718 Eighth Ave., Parkersburg, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance and was assessed $185.25 in fines and court costs.

* Jeremy D. Mullins, 45, 116 Oakwood Road, Cross Lanes, pleaded guilty to DUI, was sentenced to time served and was assessed $335.25 in fines and court costs.

* David Allen Richards, 24, 121 Rockland Drive, Williamstown, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance and driving under suspension, was sentenced to 90 days jail suspended for one year of probation and was assessed $470.50 in fines and court costs.

* James Brian Turrill, 53, 2410 Norris Ave., Belpre, pleaded guilty to failure to render information and was assessed $185.25 in fines and court costs.

* Mark Andrew Ramsey, 34, 725 Bird St., Parkersburg, pleaded guilty to prohibited person in possession of a firearm, was sentenced to one year of home confinement and was assessed $160.25 in court costs.

* Christopher Ryan Ledger, 18, 29385 East Belpre Pike Road, Coolville, had a driving under suspension charge dismissed.

* Anthony Ray Leisure, 42, Parkersburg, was arraigned on a strangulation charge and bond was set at $75,000.

Washington Sheriff

MARIETTA — The Washington County Sheriff’s Office released the following reports July 30:

The following subjects were recently sentenced in the Washington County Court of Common Pleas:

* Joseph Samuel Cupp, 28, 1017 Sixth Street, Portsmouth, for receiving stolen property, 30 days, county jail and Orient.

* Heather Sierra Simms, 24, 1725 20th Avenue, Parkersburg, for theft, 65 days, county jail.

* Jennifer Renea Forshey, 36, 2703 Washington Blvd., Belpre, for assault of a police officer, 45 days, county jail.

* Christopher Turpin, 25, 2035 Cedar Run Road, Friendly, for corrupting another with drugs, 60 days, county jail.

* Jamie Nelson Mangum, 48, 5455 Mohawk Avenue, Akron, for receiving stolen property and failure to comply with order or signal of a police officer, 120 days, county jail.

* Felicia Christine Jackson, 37, 100 Simpson Street, Marietta, for complicity in robbery, 60 days, county jail.

* Ashley Nicole Davis, 30, 810 1/2 Center Street, Parkersburg, for probation violation, 180 days, county jail.

The following subjects were processed into the Washington County Jail between Friday and Monday:

* Benjamin Levi Zartman, 25, 629 Second Street, Marietta, for probation violation, a misdemeanor.

* Bradley Douglas Worstell, 22, Marietta, for two counts of domestic violence, both misdemeanors.

* Joshua Don Martin, 38, homeless, for domestic violence, a felony.

* Charles Ray Angello, 37, 220 Belmont Drive, Opelousas, La., for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a misdemeanor.

* Ross Lester Phillips III, 31, 331 Main Street, Lower Salem, for driving under suspension, a misdemeanor.

* Janet Dawn Shaw, 44, 300 Phillips Street, Marietta, for possession of drugs, a felony.

* Amanda Marie Gates, 37, 504 Schoolhouse Road, Little Hocking, for confine/restrain dog, a misdemeanor.

* Stephen Harold Guckert Jr., 49, 452 DAV Road, Whipple, for rules for driving in marked lanes, a misdemeanor.

* Laurence Myers Evans, 75, 62 Westview Lane, Glenn Dale, W.Va., for driving while under the influence of alcohol, a misdemeanor.

* Jodie Dawn Miller, 35, 255 Silver Globe Road, Marietta, for assault, a misdemeanor.

* Amy Celia Castelli, 33, 300 Oakwood Avenue, Marietta, for possession of drugs, a misdemeanor.

* Jeffrey Isaiah Cottrell, 22, homeless, for no operator’s license, driving under suspension and obstructing official business, all misdemanors.

* Joseph Pete Hefner, 27, 411 Barkwill Street, St. Marys, for driving while under the influence of alcohol, a misdemeanor.

* Gabriel Michael Zane Lamp, 19, 618 Main Street, New Matamoras, for disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor.

* Calvin Mickael Valentine, 20, 5215 SR 260, New Matamoras, for disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor.

* Brett Sumner Edwards, 28, Marietta, for domestic violence, a felony and driving under suspension, a misdemeanor.

* Shaunell Cristein Zickfoose, 32, 1334 13th Street, Apt. A, Port Huron, Mich., for failure to display valid sticker, a misdmeaor.

* Gregory Lee Frye, 36, 636 Phillips Street, Marietta, for having weapons under disability, a felony, driving under suspension, three counts of driving under OVI suspension and contempt of court, all misdmeanors.

MARIETTA — The Washington County Sheriff’s Office released the following reports July 31:

* On July 26, Deputy Johnson met with a resident in reference to a scam which cost them approximately $2,000. This case remains under investigation regarding a company stating they had won a large amount of money and the $2,000 was needed for taxes.

* On July 26, Latasha L. Ward, Broughton Avenue, Marietta, reported license plates and a tire stolen from a vehicle while in Newport. This case remains under investigation.

* On July 26, Erica Ohler, 1650 Cameron Road, Whipple, reported numerous items, including tools and fishing items were stolen from a storage building on Brooks Lane. This case remains under investigation.

* On July 27, Deputy Schwendeman met with Jassandra Johnson, 683 Wynncrest Drive, Marietta, in reference to a burglary at the residence. This case remains under investigation.

The following subjects were processed into the Washington County Jail between Monday and Tuesday:

* Joshua Daniel Campbell, 33, 840 Echo Valley Road, Waterford, for breach of recognizance, probation violation, assault, and menacing, misdemeanors.

* Ashley Michelle Neader, 28, Whipple, for domestic violence, misdemeanor.

* Robert Michael Colletti, 49, 10 W Rankin Street, South Charleston, Ohio, for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, failure to control, and refuse to submit to test – commercial operator’s license, misdemeanors.

Athens Sheriff

ATHENS, Ohio — The Athens County Sheriff’s Office released the following reports July 30:

* On July 27, the Athens County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to Rural Women’s Recovery on a report of a female that walked away from the facility that was having issues of mental health. The female was located a short time later and transported to the hospital for an evaluation.

* On July 27, the Athens County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to Vore Ridge Road area in reference to two juveniles that were in a domestic dispute. While en route the female half left in her vehicle and almost hit two deputies responding to the call. The female involved party returned to the scene and made comments to harm herself and advised that the reason she was upset and wanted to harm herself was due to her boyfriend and issues with him. The female as taken to O’Bleness for a medical/mental evaluation. No further actions were needed.

* On July 27, the Athens County Sheriff’s Office attempted to make a traffic stop on a reckless driver. The incident began on U.S. 33 near Co Rd 16. The vehicle was clocked by radar at 82 mph passing vehicles in oncoming traffic nearly causing a crash. When the traffic stop was initiated, the suspect vehicle fled. The suspect turned off U.S. 33 onto Co Rd 16 and continued for approximately five miles reaching speeds in excess of 65 mph. The suspect drove left of center and ran through intersections. Eventually the suspect entered into a long private drive. With no way out, the suspect attempted to hide in a field. When located, the driver and both passengers fled the vehicle on foot. The vehicle was inventoried and towed. Approximately 40 minutes later, the occupants of the vehicle were located walking along Co Rd 16. The driver, Zachary Paugh, 25, of Athens, was arrested as he had two active warrants for his arrest. The two passengers, both juveniles, were transported to the Sheriff’s Office and later released. This case will be presented to the Prosecutor’s Office for indictment.

* On July 27, the Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to Oxley Road for a report of a domestic violence disturbance. Deputies investigated the scene and took statements from the involved parties. It was noted that the suspect fled the scene prior to arrival and had negative contact after patrolling several known locations. This case is under further investigation.

* On July 28, the Athens County Sheriff’s Office made contact with Whitney Downard while attempting to locate a male with an active warrant. After confirming her information, Downard was arrested on an active warrant out of Vinton County. She was transported to the county line without incident.

* On July 28, the Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to Ellis Avenue for a report of an assault. The caller said he was outside with his kids playing in the front yard when he saw Joshua Gibson driving a yellow Hyundai Veloster down Ellis Avenue at a high rate of speed. He said Gibson drives recklessly down this street often and he stepped out in the road and yelled for him to slow down. He said Gibson stopped the vehicle, exited the vehicle and began yelling and cursing at the complainant. The complainant said Gibson then punched him in the arm and the face before getting back into the vehicle and driving off. A written statement was completed by the victim. At this time, the Sheriff’s Office is looking for Joshua Gibson regarding the assault.

*On July 29, the Athens County Sheriff’s Office spoke with a resident by phone who resides on Long Run Road. The caller was away for the night and when they returned noticed that someone had poured a liquid on the patio furniture, porch and doors. Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact ACSO.

* On July 29, the Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to Carr Road for a report of an assault. Once on scene, the responding deputies met with the victim who said her boyfriend and her had an argument and it became physical. She said he ripped two handfuls of hair out of her head and slammed her head off of the SUV in the driveway twice and caused bruising to her arms as well. The suspect fled the scene prior to deputy’s arrival. With the victim being four months pregnant and with possible head injuries, EMS responded as well. EMS evaluated the female, but she said she did not wish to be taken to the hospital. At this time, a request for an arrest warrant will be completed for Isaiah Spencer for domestic violence. If anyone has information on his location call the Athens County Sheriff’s Office non-emergency number at 740-593-6633.

ATHENS, Ohio — The Athens County Sheriff’s Office released the following reports July 31:

* On July 30, the Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on Pleasant Hill Road to assist AEP worker’s whom were disconnecting an illegal hookup. Deputies stood by while AEP unhooked the power to the residence. No further action was taken at this time.

* On July 30, the Athens County Sheriff’s Office took a walk-in report regarding a civil issue involving a vehicle. The complainant advised he was selling a vehicle to the suspect and none of the terms have been met at this point. The case is under further investigation.

* On July 30, the Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to Main Street for a report of an assault. Deputies arrived on scene and spoke with involved parties and obtained statements and observed video of the incident. Deputies could not determine a primary physical aggressor, and therefore served a trespass complaint to both involved parties as both trespassed on each other’s property. No further action at this time.

* On July 30, the Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to Oxley Road for a possible protection order violation. Deputies spoke with the protected party and her daughter in reference to threats made. At this time the matter remains under investigation.

* On July 30, the Athens County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to Binderbasin Road in regard to a theft complaint. This matter is currently under investigation by the Athens County Sheriff’s Office.

Parkersburg Police

PARKERSBURG — The Parkersburg Police Department released the following reports July 30;

* This past weekend the Parkersburg Police Department responded to 251 calls for service.

* Adam Jarvis, 21, of Parkersburg, was arrested July 27 on a charge of procuring gas, water and electric by fraud.

* Gary Britton, 49, of Parkersburg, was arrested July 27 on charges of knowingly possessing a controlled substance without a valid prescription, trespassing, obstructing and public intoxication.

* Anthony Leak, 32, of Parkersburg, was arrested July 28 on charges of petit larceny and fleeing on foot.

* Patrick Parker, 28, of Parkersburg, was arrested July 28 on a charge of first-offense domestic battery.

* Adam Abbott, 28, of Parkersburg, was arrested July 28 on a charge of first-offense domestic battery.

* Michael Surface, 43, of Parkersburg, was arrested July 29 on a charge of first-offense driving under suspension.

* Kimberly Fields, of Parkersburg, was arrested July 29 on a violation of a protective order charge.

* Robert Racy, 26, of Parkersburg, was arrested July 29 on a breaking and entering charge.

* Sherrie Blackburn, 41, of Parkersburg, was arrested July 29 on a warrant for shoplifting.

* Michelle Henry, 23, of Parkersburg, was arrested July 30 on a warrant for petit larceny.

* On July 27, officers responded to 23rd Street in reference to a burglary that already occurred.

* On July 27, officers responded to City Park in reference to a breaking and entering.

* On July 27, officers responded to PPD Headquarters in reference to a stolen vehicle.

* On July 28, officers responded to Ridgeway Avenue in reference to a larceny.

* On July 28, officers responded to Division Street in reference to a vehicle entry.

* On July 28, officers responded to Dollar General on Seventh Street in reference to shoplifting.

* On July 28, officers responded to Sheetz on Ann Street in reference to shoplifting that already occurred.

* On July 29, officers responded to West Virginia Avenue in reference to a petit larceny that already occurred.

* Between July 27-29, officers investigated eight motor vehicle accidents.
