Circuit Court

PARKERSBURG — The following case appeared in Wood County Circuit Court on Dec. 4:

* Charles M. Cottrill, 24, Parkersburg, was sentenced Monday on an animal cruelty charge. Cottrill was sentenced to one to five years in prison, with credit for time served, and the sentence was suspended for home confinement. He was also assessed court costs and fees and restitution to the Humane Society of Parkersburg.

Cottrill was indicted Sept. 15, 2016, on charges of animal cruelty and domestic battery. He pleaded guilty to the animal cruelty charge on Oct. 5, 2017.

Wood Magistrate

PARKERSBURG — The following cases appeared in Wood County Magistrate Court on Dec. 4:

* Robin Vaughan Carpenter, 41, of 2775 Buckner Bend, Walker, was arraigned on a worthless check charge and released on a $200 personal recognizance bond.

* Scott Hamilton Hensley, 50, of 1121 Walnut St., Kenova, W.Va., was arraigned on a charge of first-offense driving under the influence and released on a $2,700 bond.

* Joseph Dexter Hesson, 19, of 147 Chateau Hills, Apt. 137, Parkersburg, was arraigned on charges of improper registration and no insurance and released on a $1,000 personal recognizance bond.

* Marthana Gayle Savage, 39, of 1202 Lynn St., Parkersburg, was arraigned on a charge of theft of service and released on a $500 surety bond.

* Autumn Dawn Wilson, 27, of 49 Dunsinane Drive Parkersburg, was arraigned on charges of transferring/receiving stolen property and grand larceny and was released on a $2,500 surety grant.

* Justin Sonny Wright, 28, of 615 Pike St., Parkersburg, was arraigned on a charge of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and released on a $1,000 surety bond.

* Stanford Nolan Gibson, 28, of 2312 15th Ave., Vienna, was arraigned on a charge of violation of a domestic violence protection order and released on a $1,000 surety bond.

* Dustin Wayne Crousser, 24, of 2 Dewey Ave., St. Marys, was arraigned on a charge of tampering with a motor vehicle and bond was set at $1,000.

* Robert Dale Goodnight Jr., 40, of 1327 Pike St., Parkersburg, was arraigned on a charge of obstructing and bond was set at $1,500.

* Matthew David Gonzalez, 32, of 2305 Millbrook Road, Parkersburg, was arraigned on five counts of possession of a controlled substance — methamphetamine, marijuana, crack cocaine, heroin and LSD — with intent to deliver and bond was set at $250,000.

* Tia Nasha Maxwell, 35, of 46 Elma Drive, Williamstown, was arraigned on a charge of aggravated DUI and released on a $3,500 bond.

* Johnathan Lee Johnson, 38, of 3976 Harris Highway, Washington, W.Va., was arraigned on a charge of possession of a controlled substance, meth, with intent to deliver and bond was set at $50,000.

* Brian Gene Swiger, 41, of 21 Rosebud St., Parkersburg, was arraigned on charges of fleeing, trespassing and bond violation and bond was set at $2,000.

* Brian Bradley Wright, 27, of 615 Pike St., Parkersburg, was arraigned on charges of false information and parole violation and bond was set at $500 surety.

* Joshua Don Martin, 37, 240 Hillcrest Drive, Marietta, was arraigned on four counts of forgery of public record, two counts of causing a judicial official to file a false/fraudulent legal process and charges of obstructing and failure to render information and bond was set at $4,000.

* Charles Edward Drummond, 30, Parkersburg, was arraigned on a possession of a controlled substance charge and released on $500 bond.

* Jacob John Blazosky, 36, 295 Suzanne St., Washington, W.Va., was arraigned on charges of aggravated DUI and DUI with injury and was released on $1,000 bond.

* Jonathan Dale Ahart, 39, 902 1/2 Race St., Parkersburg, was arraigned on fleeing on foot and obstructing charges and released on $1,000 bond.

* Bryan French, 35, 591 Langley Road, Sandyville, was arraigned on a third-offense charge of driving under suspension and released on $500 bond.

* Faith M. Byers, 58, 187 Wood St., Davisville, was arraigned on a worthless check charge and released on $500 bond.

* Phillip Wayne Duley Sr., 42, 611 13th St., Parkersburg, was arraigned on a public intoxication charge and released on $500 bond.

* Joshua Cole Kinney, 26, 709 Hall St., Parkersburg, was arraigned on a charge of possession of a controlled substance and released on $1,000 bond.

* Edward Lee Townsend, 43, Belleville, pleaded guilty to domestic battery and was sentenced to 30 days in jail suspended for six months probation and assessed $185.25 in court costs.

* Stephanie L. Wix, 37, 539 Carpenters Run Road, Waverly, pleaded guilty to a worthless check charge and was assessed $252.25 in fines, court costs and restitution.

* Phillip John Pettit, 42, Parkersburg, pleaded guilty to domestic battery, was sentenced to 30 days in jail suspended for six months probation and was assessed $165.25 in court costs.

* Kevin Jay Pryor, 59, 1502 25th St., Parkersburg, pleaded guilty to DUI with injury and was sentenced to time served and assessed $335.25 in fines and court costs.

* Adam Leroy Knopp, 23, 3604 Willard St., Parkersburg, pleaded guilty to DUI and obstructing and was sentenced to 90 days home confinement and assessed $545.50 in fines and court costs. He also pleaded guilty to driving under suspension and was sentenced to 90 days home confinement, to be served consecutively, and assessed $260.25 in fines and court costs.

* Virginia Wright, 45, 2396 Blennerhassett Heights Road, Parkersburg, pleaded guilty to no operator’s license and was assessed $170.25 in fines and court costs.

* Crystal Dawn Crites, 44, 25 Lubeck Apartments Lane, Apt. 24, Parkersburg, pleaded guilty to shoplifting and was assessed $$170.25 in fines and court costs and a $50 civil penalty.

* Patrick Lee Hartness, 53, 1803 Beaver St., Parkersburg, pleaded guilty to selling/furnishing beer to someone under 21 and was assessed $185.25 in fines and court costs.

* Ralph Everett Deberry, 66, 2600 Gihon Village, Apt. 506, Parkersburg, pleaded guilty to public intoxication and was assessed $180.25 in fines and court costs.

Parkersburg Police

PARKERSBURG – The Parkersburg Police Department released the following reports on Dec. 4.

* The department responded to 307 calls for service.

* Brandon Christopher, 23, was arrested on Dec. 1 for possession of a controlled substance and obstructing.

* Shawn Flowers, 28, of Parkersburg was arrested on Dec. 1 for trespassing.

* William West, 26, of Parkersburg was arrested on Dec. 1 on warrants for shoplifting and possession.

* Robert Goodnight, 40, of Parkersburg was arrested on Dec. 1 on warrants for obstructing and third-offense DUI.

* Matthew Gonzales, 32, of Parkersburg was arrested on Dec. 3 for possession with intent to deliver a narcotic, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession with intent to deliver marijuana greater than 15 grams.

* Marthanna Savage, 49, of Parkersburg was arrested on Dec. 3 on a warrant for procurement of fraudulent use of utilities.

* Shawn Cloninger, 31, of Parkersburg was arrested on Dec. 3 on warrants for fleeing, prohibited persons possessing firearms, expired registration, no operator’s and first-offense DUI.

* On Dec. 1, officers responded to West Virginia Avenue for a stolen bicycle.

* On Dec. 1, officers responded to Eighth Avenue for a breaking and entering of a vehicle.

* On Dec. 1, officers responded to Rural King for a shoplifting.

* On Dec. 1, officers responded to Emerson Avenue for a burglary.

* On Dec. 2, officers responded to Rayon Drive for a burglary.

* On Dec. 2, officers responded to Dollar General on Seventh Street for a shoplifting and cited Shannon Carver for first-offense shoplifting.

* On Dec. 2, officers responded to Latrobe Street for a breaking and entering.

* On Dec. 3, officers responded to Pike Street for a burglary.

*On Dec. 4, officers responded to Speedway on Division Street for a shoplifting.

* On Dec. 4, officers responded to Hugh Street for a destruction of property.

VIENNA — The Vienna Police Department released the following reports Dec. 1:

* On Nov. 8, Kyle G. Herwald, of Coolville, was arrested on charges of driving on suspended license and possession of controlled substances.

* On Nov. 11, Jesse S. Books, of Marietta, was arrested on charges of public intoxication and trespassing.

* On Nov. 11, Louis F. Allen, of Parkersburg, was arrested on charges of possession of controlled substance and public intoxication

* On Nov. 14, Crystal K. Eddleblute-Williams, of Vienna, was arrested on a public intoxication charge.

* On Nov. 14, Donald E. Williams, of Vienna, was arrested on a public intoxication charge.

* On Nov. 15, Greg W. Young, of Vienna, was arrested on an obstructing charge.

* On Nov. 24, Trisha C. Brookover, of Vienna, was arrested on a permitting DUI charge.

* On Nov. 24, Todd J. Twyman, of Vienna, was arrested on a charge of third-offense DUI.

* On Nov. 24, Gregory C. Stanley, of Coolville, was arrested on a third-offense shoplifting charge.

Williamstown Police

WILLIAMSTOWN — The Williamstown Police Department released the following reports Dec. 4:

Dec. 2

* James A. Forshey, 33, Waverly, was cited on a charge of driving on a suspended license on Highland Avenue.

* Gabrielle E. Acosta, 24, Marietta, was cited on a charge of texting while driving on West Third Street.

* Jessica Nelson, 32, Belleville, was cited on a charge of second-offense cell phone use while driving on West Third Street.

* James Gilmore, 49, Vienna, was cited on a charge of failure to yield on West Third Street.

Dec. 3

* Dylan Radabaugh, 20, Millwood, W.Va., was cited on a charge of improper left turn on Poplar Avenue.

Dec. 4

* Scott Hamilton Hensley, 60, Kenova, W.Va., was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence following the investigation of a single vehicle auto accident on West Third Street at Henderson Avenue. Hensley was operating a 2011 Ford Expedition that struck and damaged approximately 30 feet of guardrail before going over an embankment. Upon contact with Hensley, officers reportedly noticed signs of intoxication and subsequently arrested Hensley on a DUI charge. Hensley was transported to Camden Clark Medical Center for medical clearance and then to the Wood County Holding Center where his BAC tested 0.164 percent. Hensley was placed in the Wood County Holding Center pending his arraignment at Wood County Magistrate Court.
