Washington Sheriff

MARIETTA — Washington County Sheriff’s Office released the following reports on Sept. 22.

* On Sept. 18, deputies were dispatched to 390 Brownsville Road in reference to a criminal damaging incident that was ongoing. Sheila Gore, 130 Cemetery Drive, New Matamoras, advised that upon her returning home her son Lionel Justin Gore, 29, and his friend were using drugs in the home. Lionel Gore and the friend left and went to 390 Brownsville Road where he began breaking the windows out of the residence. Ms. Gore stated that Lionel would run from officers if approached. Deputies arrived at the location and when Lionel looked out and saw the officers he ran, with deputies pursuing him on foot. Lionel was told numerous times to stop. Lionel continued on and the attempt to apprehend him was unsuccessful. Later this date deputies encountered Lionel Gore and was able to place him under arrest for obstructing official business and resisting arrest. Lionel Gore was transported to the Washington County Jail.

* On Sept. 19, Kailyn Schmitt, 324 Main Street, Lower Salem, reported a Fisher Price Power Wheels and a bicycle removed from her home. The items were valued at $500.

* On Sept. 20, Deputy McKee received information that Rebecca Lou Sergent, 26, 1320 Caywood Road, Marietta, had two active warrants and was at 27335 State Route 7, Marietta Township. Deputies went to the location and as Deputy McKee approached the door of the home, he was able to observe Sergent through the glass. Sergent observed Deputy McKee and ran toward the back of the home, with Deputy McKee following her, advising her of the warrants for her arrest. Deputy McKee asked Sergent to walk outside on the porch to talk with him. Deputy McKee and Sergent walked outside and Sergent was advised she was under arrest. Deputy McKee had one hand on Sergent’s arm and she began to pull away from him. Sergent became free of Deputy McKee and ran from the porch, all the while being ordered to stop. Sergent ran to the rear of the trailer and encountered Sgt. Reeder. Deputies were able to apprehend Sergent. Sergent was placed under arrest on the warrants, as well as an additional felony charge of escape. Sergent was transported to the Washington County Jail.

* On Sept. 20, Seth Miller, 235 Ridgewood Blvd., Belpre, reported a building entered and a Stihl leaf blower, Stihl weed eater and Husqvarna chainsaw taken from the property. Items are valued at over $1,300.

* On Sept. 20, deputies received information that Darrel Scott Schrebe, 45, 38310 State Route 7, Newport, had a warrant out of Pleasants County for gross neglect of a child resulting in serious injury. Deputy McKee went to 25 Merchant Street, Newport, and made contact with Schrebe who advised he was aware of the warrant and was waiting for law enforcement to find him. Schrebe was placed under arrest and charged with being a fugitive from the state of West Virginia and was  transported to the Washington County Jail.

* On Sept. 20, deputies met with Stephanie Wilfong, 122 Terrance Avenue, Marietta, in reference to a domestic violence complaint. Wilfong had gone to her ex-boyfriend’s residence to pick up their child. The ex-boyfriend, Matthew Gene Schafer, 37, 445 Dodds Run Road, was seated outside with what appeared to be a long gun leaning against a post beside him. Schafer asked Wilfong to sit beside him so he could talk with her. Wilfong advised him that she would not, and began walking toward the residence. Schafer told Wilfong that if she went into the house he would shoot her, in which he then discharged a round. Wilfong did not know where he was aiming when he shot, and continued into the residence to get the child. Schafer went into the residence and began to yell at her, bumping against Wilfong causing her to trip over a foot stool and fall.

Wilfong continued to pick up the child, where Schafer then jerked on the diaper bag Wilfong had obtained. Wilfong continued to her vehicle and was attempting to place the child in a safety seat; however Schafer continued to interfere. Wilfong placed the child in the vehicle and left the area. Wilfong stated she was in fear for her safety and requested a temporary protection order. A warrant is being requested through Marietta Municipal Court for Schafer on charges of domestic violence, aggravated menacing and having weapons while under disability.

* On Sept. 20, Sgt. Mankins observed a gold pickup truck near the intersection of Pike and Acme streets with what appeared to be expired registration. A check was made finding the registration had expired in June 2016. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as Tammy Buck, 80 Railroad Street, Whipple. A check of the driver was conducted finding Buck to be under FRA suspension. A citation was issued to Buck for first offense DUS.

* On Sept. 21, Nancy Riggs, 35 Maple Street, Newport, reported that she was notified by AEP that she had an outstanding balance from Carrollton, Ohio. It is believed that her identity was used by an unknown subject. This case remains under investigation.

* On Sept. 21, Deputy Hunter was dispatched to the Washington County Career Center, 21740 State Route 676, Marietta, in reference to two juvenile being caught with suspected drug paraphernalia. Deputy Hunter met with school personnel and learned the juveniles were caught using marijuana in the locker room. One of the juveniles was also found to be in possession of a small metal container containing traces of suspected marijuana. Summons are being requested through Washington County Juvenile Court for possession of drug paraphernalia on the two juveniles.

* On Sept. 21, Deputy Hunter was notified of an outstanding arrest warrant for Serena Rae Haught, 27, 1000 Orchard Street, Marietta. The warrant is for failure to appear on a charge of seat belt violation and driving while under suspension, both misdemeanors. Attempts were made to locate Haught with negative results.

* On Sept. 21, Allen Harris, 670 Walsh Road, Little Hocking, reported 85 pieces of granite tile, Xbox 360 system and games removed from the home. These are valued at approximately $550.

* On Sept. 21, Deputy Johnson was notified of an outstanding arrest warrant for Christopher Allen Streight, 30, 221 S. Sixth Street, Marietta. The warrant is for failure to appear on a charge of OVI and no brake lights, both misdemeanors. Attempts were made to locate Streight with negative results.

The following suspects were processed into the Washington County Jail on Wednesday:

* Michael Charles Plaugher, 37, 108 W. Sacra Via Street, Marietta, for probation violation and OVI suspension, both misdemeanors. Plaugher was arrested on Green Street by Probation Officer E. Brockmeier of the Marietta City Probation Department and processed into the Washington County Jail.

* David Ryan Huber, 33, 1030 George Street, Parkersburg, for driving under suspension, a misdemeanor. Huber was arrested in Marietta Municipal Court by Patrolman Dennison of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail.

* Carl Dennis Robison, 23, 235 Johnson Road, Marietta, for probation violation, a felony. Robison was arrested at the Adult Probation Department by Probation Officer Wheeler and processed into the Washington County Jail.

* Jeremy Wade Carpenter, 31, 206 Alderman Street, Marietta, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Carpenter was arrested on Alderman Street by Patrolman McElroy of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail.

* Ronald Lee Deem Jr., 43, 147 Oak Drive, Little Hocking, for domestic violence and assault, felonies, arson and resisting arrest, both misdemeanors. Deem was arrested at his residence by Deputy Huffer of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail.

* William Jason Everly, 53, 126 Laurel Avenue, Clarksburg, for OVI, a misdemeanor. Everly was arrested on I-77 by Trooper Forshey of the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail.

* Tyler Eugene Burgett, 18, 45145 Curtis Ridge, Summerfield, Ohio, on warrants for breach of recognizance and theft, both misdemeanors. Burgett was arrested by Sgt. Mankins of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail.

MARIETTA — On Sept. 21, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office released the following reports.

The following warrants were received at the Washington County Sheriff’s Office:

* Matthew Schafer, of 445 Dodd Run Road, Marietta, for domestic violence and having weapons under disability.

* Heman Subedi, of 1202 Big Falls Ave., Akron, for failure to appear.

The following subject was recently sentenced in Washington County Common Pleas Court:

* Misty Dawn Winchell, of 19361 Bender Basin Road, Glouster, for failure to appear.

The following suspects were processed into the Washington County Jail on Monday:

* Misty Dawn Winchell, 34, of 19361 Bender Basin Road, Glouster, on a warrant for failure to appear. Winchell turned herself in at the Washington County Jail and was processed on Sept. 20 at 9:24 a.m.

* Rebecca Lou Sergent, 26, of 1320 Caywood Road, Marietta, for escape, a felony, driving under suspension, failure to control and unauthorized use of motor vehicle, all misdemeanors. Sergent was arrested by Deputy McKee of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office on Ohio 7 and processed into the Washington County Jail on Sept. 20 at 11:10 a.m.

* Darrel Scott Schrebe, 45, of 38310 Ohio 7, Newport, fugitive from justice. Schrebe was arrested by Deputy McKee of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on Sept. 20 at 4:33 p.m.

* Douglas Gene Snider Jr., 42, of 1314 Glendale Road, Marietta, on warrants for fictitious plates, telephone harassment, theft and menacing, all misdemeanors, and theft by deception, a felony. Snider was arrested by Patrolman Huck of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on Sept. 20 at 9:35 p.m.

Parkersburg Police

PARKERSBURG — The Parkersburg Police Department released the following reports on Sept. 22:

* The department answered 108 calls for service.

* Chance K. McCartney, 19, of Parkersburg was arrested Sept. 22 for breaking and entering and conspiracy to commit felony.

* Kendra J. Barber, 23, of Parkersburg was arrested Sept. 21 for forgery/utter.

* Joshua R. Knopp, 25, of Parkersburg was arrested Sept. 21 on a warrant for battery.

* Hector Andaluz Rosario, 47, of Parkersburg was arrested Sept. 21 for domestic battery.

* On Sept. 21, Patricia Ahart reported a petit larceny.

* On Sept. 21, officers responded to the area of Emerson Avenue for a found bicycle.

* On Sept. 21, Ralph DeBerry reported a grand larceny.

* On Sept. 21, Lynn Doddrill reported a burglary.

* On Sept. 21, Albert Pryor reported a petit larceny.

* On Sept. 21, officers responded to the area of 10th Avenue for a fight.

* On Sept. 21, Balen Miller reported a petit larceny.

* On Sept. 21, David Cain reported a burglary.

* On Sept. 22, officers responded to the area of Birch Street for a domestic dispute.

* On Sept. 21, officers investigated five motor vehicle accidents.

Athens Sheriff

ATHENS — On Sept. 21, the Athens County Sheriff’s Office released the following reports.

* On Sept. 20, the sheriff’s office was called to the Setty Road Cemetery in Albany for a report of a male passed out at the wheel. Upon arrival, the male was found to have a loaded syringe in his right hand with a brown liquid inside it. The syringe was collected and the liquid will be sent off for testing. The male was released to a sober family member and the family member took custody of his vehicle.

* On Sept. 20, the sheriff’s office responded to Evergreen Estates, The Plains, for a harassment complaint from other adults in the complex. Deputies made contact with all parties and they were advised to cease contact.

* On Sept. 20, the sheriff’s office responded to Rock Street, Coolville, in reference to an intoxicated male subject that was yelling at this residence. The complainant, which is a roommate, advised that the man had been drinking but then left prior to deputies arrival.

* On Sept. 20, deputies responded to an Amesville address for a trespass complaint. On scene, home health care workers advised they had witnessed  individuals arrive earlier in the day and attempt to remove items from the property. The complainants advised the property owner had been made aware of the situation and would be coming to the sheriff’s office to file a report.

* On Sept. 20, at 11:43 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a Radford Road address outside Athens for a reported suicide.

Wood Sheriff

PARKERSBURG — On Sept. 20, the Wood County Sheriff’s Office released the following reports.

* On Sept. 19, deputies responded to Lair of II apartments in reference to a domestic dispute in which a 2-year-old child was injured by broken glass. Reportedly the rear driver’s side window of a vehicle was punched causing it to shatter with pieces of the flying glass hitting one child in the face. Matthew Gregory Howard, 21, of Lair of II apartments was arrested on charges of child abuse and risk of bodily injury.

* On Sept. 19, deputies responded to Williamstown Pike to assist a man obtain belongings from the residence as he was out on bond. After gathering his belongings and preparing to leave the woman, Teresa Hall, 25, Williamstown Pike, arrived and began trying to make contact with him. Hall was advised that due to the bond he could not have contact with her. This upset Hall to the point where she was warned about disorderly conduct. As the deputy was leaving the female again yelled profanities at the deputy who stopped and exited his cruiser. Hall began heading for the house though the deputy was ordering her to stop. Hall was asked to exit the residence so an arrest could be affected outside the view of her child although Hall again refused to comply. While attempting to restrain Hall she began to kick and swing her arms striking the deputy several times. Hall was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct, battery of an officer, obstructing an officer and eluding. A motion to revoke Hall’s bond from a previous arrest was also presented to the court at her arraignment. Teresa Hall was arraigned and subsequently released on a $1,600 bond.

PARKERSBURG — The Wood County Sheriff’s Department released the following reports on Sept. 22:

* On Sept. 22, deputies responded to the 300 block of Jewell Road for an accident with injuries. Pamela Buskirk of Tonya Avenue was cited for no proof of insurance and improper registration.

* On Sept. 21, a deputy and State Police trooper responded to Henrie Lane for an accident. Contact was made with the driver and the odor of an alcoholic beverage was coming from her person. Amanda Hayes of Blennerhassett Heights was taken into custody, processed, cited for driving under the influence and then turned over to a sober party.
