Wood BOE meets tonight

PARKERSBURG — The Woood County Board of Education meets tonight to approve the fiscal year 2020 budget and to approve summer programs and personnel changes.

The board will meet at 6:30 p.m. today at Wood County Schools Central Office at the corner of 13th and Plum streets in Parkersburg. The meeting is open to the public.

The board will hold its final hearing on the proposed FY2020 budget, which covers the 2019-20 school year. The board will receive the 2010-20 Comprehensive Education Facilities Plan, also known as the CEFP, as a discussion item. The board has announced it will begin work on the new 10-year facilities plan this month, including proposed school closures and consolidation.

Among the board’s items for consideration and approval today are the district’s summer feeding programs, approval of “McLiney and Company as Underwriting Placement Agent for any energy performance contract that may be entered into during the next 15 months,” creation of an assistant principal position at the Caperton Center, and other personnel changes.

The board is expected to approve the retirement of Transportation Director Richard Lance, effective June 30.
