MOV’n Dragons plans excursions

MARIETTA — The MOV’n Dragons is inviting the public to experience the Muskingum River in a dragon boat.

The group is Mid-Ohio Valley’s dragon boat team comprised of breast cancer thrivers and supporters, women and men committed to wellness, competition and fun. The team encourages healthy healing and lifestyles through goal-oriented exercise, nutrition, education and fellowship, raises awareness of the issues surrounding breast cancer including early detection and serves as models of courage, determination and teamwork.

Participants will learn about the river, its environs, the importance of the river in Ohio history, learn about the rise of dragon boating and try paddling a boat.

Six Saturday excursions are planned on June 8, June 22, July 13, July 27, Aug. 3 and Aug. 24. The excursions are 9-11 a.m. starting at the Marietta High School Boat House, 812 Gilman Ave.

The excursions are open to anyone 12 and over and no previous experience or fitness levels are required.

The event is free.
