Walk Your Paws is the Humane Society of Parkersburg’s largest fundraiser for the operation of the shelter.
The organization is contracted for animal control services and funded in part by the Wood County Commission. The remainder of funds required for the Humane Society to care for homeless, hurt and abused animals relies on donations and fundraising, officials said.
Animals are vaccinated, flea treated, dewormed, and altered while in the Humane Society’s care. Sick and injured animals are examined and treated by the Humane Society’s veterinarian and sometimes need to be sent for further treatment or testing, officials said.
