Belpre Chamber to mark 90th anniversary with free concert
BELPRE — The Belpre Area Chamber of Commerce is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year and will hold a free community concert 7-9 p.m. June 15 at Civitan Park.
Highlighting the concert is the local favorite Hit Parade. The concert is a thank-you to the community, residents and businesses for support of the chamber, Executive Director Karen Waller said.
“The chamber wants to celebrate specifically by showing community members, leaders, and businesses how much they are appreciated. Our board, committees, and membership enjoy increased support for work done in expanding and retaining business in the Belpre area,” she said. “We have expanded our reach in the area as well as our communication to businesses and residents. In turn, we believe we have aided economic growth throughout our 90 years.”
The concert will be free and will showcase local musicians and three food trucks for concessions, Waller said.
Hit Parade is an ’80s rock cover band from Marietta. Its repertoire includes party anthems, new classic rock and one-hit wonders that have been performed before thousands of fans since 2010. The concert is sponsored by PM Company and Peoples Bank.
Songs will be by Journey, Def Leppard, Prince, BonJovi, Rick Springfield, Huey Lewis and the News and Motley Crue, among others. There’s something for everyone, according to Waller.
“We have planned this evening with residents of all ages in mind,” Waller said. “Hit Parade appeals to many tastes in music, and we expect a nice crowd to gather to enjoy our beautiful park and the activities we have planned. It will be a fun evening,” she said.
Concessions vendors will be SnoBiz shaved ice cream, Hot Dog Willy’s hot dogs and sandwiches and Hangry’s pies, ice cream, funnel cakes and popcorn.
Businesses and non-profits will celebrate with the chamber by setting up pop-up picnic sites to enjoy the music with their staffs and teams while greeting concert goers.
The Belpre Church of Christ will hold a pre-concert Family Fest 5:30-6:45 p.m. on the park grounds.
Travis Williams, Family Life Minister, said members of the church will provide free activities for children, including inflatables, activity stations such as a balloon artist, relay races for families, face painting and reading. Prizes for the activities and door prizes will be awarded.
During 2019, chamber members have celebrated the landmark year using a specially created Social Media Frame for selfies and portraits of staff, sporting the phrase “Belpre Area Chamber Proud.” Interested members and other businesses and residents can check the postings using the frame on the Belpre Area Chamber of Commerce Facebook page.
The Belpre Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual dinner, set for Oct. 24, will feature a video presentation highlighting dinner sponsors and area business changes through the years, plus the unveiling of a new logo and other branding materials and an address by Becky Mathis-Stump of Lethos Leadership Group. Traditional awards, networking, celebration and social hour activities will be provided.
