Authorities arrest Parkersburg man in his father’s shooting

PARKERSBURG — A man accused of shooting his father on Friday was arraigned in Wood County Magistrate Court on Saturday morning.

Jacob Williams, 23, Parkersburg, appeared before Magistrate Brenda K. Marshall on charges of malicious wounding, a felony. He was accused of shooting his father, Jason Williams, 42, on Friday afternoon.

The criminal complaint said Jacob Williams was at his father’s home at 1508 Crescent St. where he allegedly shot his father in the stomach area.

“He was shot around 3:30 p.m. following an argument,” said Parkersburg Police Chief Joe Martin.

“The victim was then transported to WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center where he was treated for the gunshot, which was lodged deep into his muscular spine,” the criminal complaint said.

According to the criminal complaint, Jason Williams was recovering in ICU Saturday morning.

“There could be additional charges later on once this process gets going on to grand jury,” Martin said.

Jacob Williams was being held at the North Central Regional Jail on a $100,000 cash bond as of Saturday.
