Kessler competent to stand trial
PARKERSBURG — Jared Kessler, 19, in custody without bond, was deemed competent to stand trial on a murder charge in Wood County Circuit Judge Robert Waters court on Thursday.
His trial is set for Aug. 19. Kessler is accused of fatally stabbing his mother, Carol Ann Kessler, 50, last November in Parkersburg.
According to the criminal complaint, Kessler said he stabbed his mother several times about the chest and abdomen. Kessler also allegedly said he then cut the victim’s neck and face multiple times, the criminal complaint said.
