Washington County man sentenced for probation violation

MARIETTA — A Waterford man was sentenced to two years in prison for a probation violation in Washington County Common Pleas Court on Friday.

Dalton Ball, 20, of 571 Swift Road, Waterford, was on probation after he pleaded guilty to a fifth-degree felony charge of breaking and entering and a third-degree felony charge of theft of a firearm on July 19. He was sentenced to the STAR Community Justice Center for rehabilitative treatment.

Before the treatment was complete, Ball signed himself out of the facility and was transported to the Washington County Jail. During his bond hearing on Nov. 30, Ball said the STAR facility began punishing all inmates for an infraction committed by another inmate. Ball also said that all treatment stopped during that time, and that was the reason he had signed out of the program.

The original charges stem from an arrest in October of 2017 when Ball stole several guns from multiple homes in the Beverly/Waterford area.
