South Carolina man charged with drug trafficking in Williamstown

WILLIAMSTOWN — A man from South Carolina was charged with felony drug trafficking on Friday by the Williamstown Police Department.

Quanterio Deangelo Sitton, 33, Greenville, was arrested by Williamstown Police following a traffic stop in the 300 block of Highland Avenue. The stop occurred about 11:15 a.m., Police Chief Shawn Graham said.

Sitton was stopped on the lot of DaVinci’s Restaurant after officers observed the driver commit two separate traffic violations, Graham said. Sitton was unable to produce an identification, Graham said.

Officers also saw a partial prescription pill on Sitton’s lap and Sitton’s South Carolina driver’s license was suspended, Graham said.

“Sitton was removed from the vehicle and during a pat down search officers recovered a pill bottle that was concealed in Sitton’s groin area,” Graham said. “Sitton advised officers that the pill bottle contained both methamphetamine and heroin.”

The bottle contained five individually wrapped baggies of suspected heroin and one baggy of suspected methamphetamine, Graham said. Also recovered was a loaded and unholstered .38 caliber handgun under the passenger seat in the car, he said.

Additional charges may be pending on the firearm, Graham said.

Sitton was taken before Wood County Magistrate Court and arraigned on felony charges of possession with the intent to deliver methamphetamine and possession with the intent to deliver heroin. He was confined to the Department of Corrections in lieu of $2,000 bond.
