PARKERSBURG — A fire caused extensive damage to a house at 1711 23rd St. Tuesday evening.

The two occupants, a mother and daughter, whose names were not released, made it out of the house safely, said Parkersburg Fire Chief Jason Matthews.

According to Matthews, the call came in at 8:57 p.m. and the fire department was on scene in minutes.

“The fire started in the attic; we are investigating the cause,” said Matthews. It has been ruled an accidental fire.

Matthews did not have an estimated cost of damage but said it was extensive.

“The attic has significant fire damage, while the first and second floor have extensive water damage,” he said.
