Parkersburg man dies in auto accident

PARKERSBURG — James Duncan, 55, of Parkersburg, was killed in a single-vehicle accident Friday in Wood County, an official said.

The Wood County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched at 11:47 a.m. to the 500 block of Williamstown Pike for a motorcycle accident with injuries where CPR was in progress, said Chief Deputy Robert G. Sims.

The Williamstown Volunteer Fire Department and Camden Clark Ambulance Service responded to the scene and transported Duncan to Marietta Memorial Hospital, said Sims.

Duncan was pronounced dead at the hospital at 12:45 p.m., said Sims.

According to Sims, members of the Wood County Crash Team were called out to look into any contributing factors; however, the initial investigation shows the only vehicle involved was the 1994 Honda motorcycle operated by Duncan, he said.

The vehicle drove off the road to the right where it traveled for a short distance before it struck a telephone pole, Sims said.
