Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Airport recommends Contour Airlines for EAS

WILLIAMSTOWN — Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Airport Manager Glen Kelly submitted a recommendation this week to the U.S. Department of Transportation for Contour Airlines to provide service at the airport.

Kelly was authorized earlier this month by the Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Airport Authority to negotiate with Tennessee-based Contour on terms for it to fly to and from the airport under federally subsidized Alternate Essential Air Service. Contour was chosen over incumbent carrier Via Air, which has struggled with reliability issues as it expanded its service in West Virginia.

Kelly declined to release the proposed subsidy amount for Contour.

He said he expects to hear whether the DOT will accept the recommendation within a couple of weeks.

Like Via, Contour would provide service to Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
