Marietta man charged in attack on ex-fiancee’s boyfriend

PARKERSBURG — A Marietta man is in jail after allegedly sneaking into his ex-fiancee’s house and attacking her boyfriend with a baseball bat.

According to a complaint filed in Wood County Magistrate Court, Ryan Scott Watson, 28, of 1350 Ohio 821, Marietta, was charged with two counts of burglary and a violation of the condition of his bond after he entered a house in Parkersburg through a basement window Sunday. He was out on bond for a charge of domestic battery and was to have no contact with the woman.

The complaint said Watson struck the woman’s current boyfriend with a baseball bat, resulting in a large lump on that man’s forearm. When Wood County Sheriff’s deputies responded, they found Watson hiding under a bed in the basement, with an engagement ring belonging to the woman in his hand, the complaint said.
