Sobriety checkpoint slated for Friday

PARKERSBURG – The Parkersburg Detachment of the West Virginia State Police will conduct a sobriety checkpoint from 7 p.m. Friday to 1 a.m. Saturday.

The checkpoint will be set up in the State Farm Insurance parking lot at West Virginia 95 and Gihon Road.

The purpose of the checkpoint is to deter impaired drivers and educate the public about the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Members of the public are asked to help stop people driving under the influence by reporting impaired drivers.
